I asked That Poster many months ago how he has so much comprehensive knowledge, and he said he listens to the games while doing other stuff around the house. More recently he held himself out as an expert on like 5 leagues (and not most of the big, easily available on TV ones, either) and shriveled up like a snail in a microwave when I questioned him on it.

I think we on same train. I put sash/Benny more probably meaning that type. Hyndman is that type for sure. He is definitely next in line for me. Don't think the coach is ready to give the keys to a 20 yo lighting up Scotland. His next move has to be as positive as this and he deserves the spot. Gonna be scary if what we envision becomes reality.

Bump Geoff off the 2nd page..

Just got around to watching the Man City game. Played the perfect holding mid role and him and Allen are great together back there.

GC worked his butt off and shielded the back four as well as anyone could. Was smart with the ball at his feet, with a few fancy pants moves mixed in to show his flair. If anything bad, it was 3 horrible crosses all from the right side...(and none with the outside of his foot...thank god).

Gotta love the play around 70' when he gallops through the City defense on the right with a wonderful 50 yard run.

Stoke played with as much heart as you'll seen this year.

if he puts in some great performances for the NT this year, he very well might be in contention.

There are many people who don't dislike Diego Costa. They fall into two categories: the ones who truly, madly, deeply loathe the guy; and the ones who never watch football and therefore don't known who he is or what he does.

And the third category, those that love his murals but don't understand his attraction to Frida.

Costa's annoying act used to work well: defenders would get so mad at him after the posturing, gesturing, and name calling, they'd clock him the first chance they got. Which was good for a card and a set piece for Chelsea.

Of late, doesn't seem to be working. He's finally got figured out.

nice... not sure the setup for the team, he could be in CM or RB to be honest. pieters/muniesa as outside backs, i assume but Diouf's name is back by the FB's.

oh well, great to see GC back in action. !!

    maybe 3-5-2...

Stoke is safe from relegation and too far down to challenge for one of the Europa spots.

So at this point it's just keeping it around the middle.

Stoke lost 1-0 to Burnley at Turf Moor.

Geoffrey was decent. Not really involved in the goal against. He was in the general area, but covering the space outside the box, and standing between another attacker and the ball. It went to the player ahead of him, who split 2 Stokies, for the finish. No big bobbles by Geoff, nor huge contributions in terms of passing or intercepts. More seemed to be playing a facilitating role, a little higher up the field than usual. Was pretty tidy. His positioning was potentially good but he wasn't as aggressive as usual. Had a few crosses and long balls which could have come to something but Arnautovic and Berahino weren't good targets on the day. Arnie was off.

Stoke are missing a creative force without Shaq. It's heavily up to Arnie's form and trying to go Rambo. Need Sobhi at least when Shaq is out. Could also use an Affelay on the field, especially after Bojan transferred. Cameron and Adam I don't think are a great pairing due to leaving some spaces between them and they have some issues with build-up. Whelan-Cameron are a better tandem, and they'd empower attackers ahead of them to stay more forward. Berahino flatters to deceive. Stoke have been missing a solid starting cf option for years seemingly.

I thought Geoff was OK again. Neither a clear positive or negative. He hounded Liverpool a lot, forced plenty of TO's, covered ground, did plenty of emergency defending. But occasionally got circumvented in his aggression and made plenty of mistakes on the ball because it was getting caught in his feet, he was over-dribbling, or just didn't see his teammates out there. He's been less sharp in this department since his return. But none of the giveaways were that bad individually, and he wasn't involved in any of the goals against.

Stoke lost 2-1 at home against Liverpool. Really should have scored the equalizer on a couple occasions but Adam hesitated too much on one and the other Mignolet made a remarkable save on a sitter. Pretty even game which probably should have been a draw by how the teams played outside finishing, but that's part of the reason why they pay Liverpool the bigger bucks. Great strike by Firmino especially and Coutinho is class in and around the box. You can't give him any room. As an aside, if you can't get results with guys like that as Brazilian national team manager, you know you suck at your job. It's no wonder now they're dominating the region.

I don't think the scoreline was fair. Class won in the end but Joe and Geoff make Stoke a far better team, and once Joe went down the midfield was lost for Stoke. Adam even if he is up for it, cannot play like that. Both goals came right after Glenda came on. Tough break for a loyal hard working player.

I thought Geoff was okay, he is what he is, but he and Allen are a good pairing. Adam cannot cover the ground that Allen does and the difference between the two midfields was easily apparent once Charley came on.

ANyone have anything to say about their massive signing Berahino? Seems they paid a lot thinking they were buying the next mane, but probably brought in the next Bony.
