I'd like to see him go to Palermo. But only because then all these Freddy Adu supporters would have to go out and buy pink kits. I'd pay to see that.
This may be a discussion for a whole new thread but what if DeBontin was referring to another young American, not Adu? Don't be suprised if Monaco snatched Edu or Holden, as we know that the French league has a propensity to snag MLS players for little or no reason from time to time. I'm just sayin' because it's very rare to see 3 clubs in two leagues after the same player and not have one of the G-14 perk up and take notice. And I've never seen that situation surrounding an American player. Ever.
D'oh, well that's what I get for not following them. I'm just keepin' tabs on this because he's a Yank Abroad and I'm curious about where he's going. Heh, didn't know that about Benfica.
Re: Genoa prepare bid for Benfica starlet Adu I'm not familiar at all with the laws of Monaco, but I do know they have some pretty stingy laws on residency and citizenship. I'd be curious to know how many Monaco players actually live in Monaco. Oh, and I wouldn't mind watching Freddy play for Monaco, but I would prefer it only to be on loan.
Re: Genoa prepare bid for Benfica starlet Adu I bet every single one of them. There's plenty of incentives to do so.
Um, like who? I can only think of Greg Vanney to Bastia and Cannon to Metz, neither of which were real success stories, though Vanney did play from time to time. Moreover, I don't think in either case the clubs "snagged" the MLS players. More like the MLS players were shopped pretty heavily as out-of-contract players. The other non-MLS US-based players I can think of are White and Onyewu. Both left France without being successful. I suppose there could be some non-MLS players that I don't know about -- Peguero? Some African players? I don't know.
