837600232032600064 is not a valid tweet id good piece in general, a little different than usual. Continuing the rewriting of United history re: Ben Olsen, started by Don Garber this week, they put Benny on the team two years and two cups earlier than he actually got here. It's funny hearing us referred to as being "in the American League" Might have been done by someone with no knowledge of DCU or MLS, but still manages to be interesting. Good look at the trainers/training regimens - and speaking of the trainers ..... what the hell is he doing to that poor kid's head?
Great article on (mainly) Sam and Nyarko http://www.blackandredunited.com/dc...ited-patrick-nyarko-lloyd-sam-2017-mls-season
Nyarko may be a bit susceptible to some injuries (notably another concussion), but he's still our best first option. And this year we got quality depth on the wings.
I don't know if anybody tracks this stat, but Nyarko drew a hell of a lot of yellow cards from opponents last year.
Washingtonian: How to Be a D.C. United Fan http://bit.ly/2lWDvM6 "Here are 10 things you need to know about joining the loud side and what to do once you show up."
Yeah, I had low expectations, too. We're not really Washingtonian's target market, but I thought it was quite good.
Fun Fact: The article features one of the "Ninety-Sixers." Another is John Koskinen, the embattled head of the IRS with long-time involvement with soccer as a youth coach; chair of the USSF; and head of DC's bid for the 1994 WC. His alma mater, Duke, plays in Koskinen stadium. I didn't see him in his usual seat for Saturday's opener; maybe the Republican effort to impeach him has made him cautious (Just kidding. He's imperturbable.)
I heard an ad for it on DC101 this morning - first for me too http://dclottery.com/games/scratchers/1346/dc-united.aspx
Probably won't affect NewsChannel8's coverage, but if it does you can always break this out into a new thread. Thx, Jay!
Sadly, with the amount of teams projected to enter the league, you may have better odds winning something from a scratch-off than DC winning a MLS Cup again I wonder if one of the prizes is a season ticket.
1st place: All the leftover gray hotdogs from the last home game at RFK. 2nd place: A dump truck full of "topsoil" from the Buzzard Point construction site! 3rd Place: 5 Garber bucks!
Ahh, the fine print. Of course, I'm familiar with 2nd chances. Enter in a code on the web-site and see if it is a winner.
Other prizes you might win include: - the stool that Acosta stands on to reach pretty much anything - one of those mustache comb scarves - "Ben Olsen's guide to sophisticated coaching and tactics" -- a limited edition - naming rights to Chad Ashton's backside Odds of winning 1:1,000,00 (or about the likelihood that we will either win a cup OR begin 2018 in our new stadium)
Well, when I questioned the advertisement for the last season at RFK to my ticket rep, he stated that the team would most likely do a considerable amount of road games in the beginning of the 2018 season (if necessary). - Tickets to special (post deep-freeze) 2017 Cherry Blossom events.
