I believe Marca is the Spanish equivilent of English papers like the Daily Mail which means its not a very credible source.

marca is a sports-only daily, a bit less reasonable than l'équipe (though we're getting there). it doesn't have l'équipe's monopoly, and it takes a very strong réal madrid viewpoint.

To be honest Pedretti would be a better option compared to someone like Lass ..

he'd also be able to point out to them that GQ is not a football magazine.

I have been watching a few of the French League 1 matches this season and I must say they have been pretty entertaining to watch. I'm really starting to like the Ligue 1 as a League. I don't have a favorite team (and don't think I will adopt one in France) but I would be fine seeing anyone do well except Lyon (sorry being a Real Madrid fan I do not like them plus their league dominance from 2001-2008). I partially root for PSG because I always used to play as them in FIFA 2003 and I like their logo, kits, and stadium. I also like Sochoux, and St. Etienne (Davies and Bocanegra are Americans like me).

In my opinion its just another exciting league to follow from a neutral standpoint. Looking forward to hopefully discussing the league more often in here :)

Have you guys checked out the new Ligue1 website? Pretty much same content, but the new layout is slick.

Hi, it does look like they did a nice job with the layout, and the English version seems to be updated daily too, which is nice.

I'm not a big L1 fan, by the way, but do visit the site every once and a while. :D

He's right , of course . In other leagues , the " historical " clubs are always the strongest , in France this isn't the case . I won't mention Lyon but apart from them , OM , Bordeaux , Monaco and ourselves are very inconsistent . ASSE in recent seasons are just surviving to stay in L1 . Nantes in L2 .. Does Strasbourg even exist anymore ? It's their fault that lesser teams like Auxerre and Toulouse finish in CL places .

For a new promoted club to lead the table at this stage is ridiculous , and is an reflection that strength in our league doesn't exist . Infact , it means that the team leading in table is just less crap than it's rivals . " Best of the bad bunch "

I watched OM who were playing at home , vs the mighty Zelina , it was embarrassing watching them play so bad . If you are struggle to win vs Zelina , you know you have problems . This is our champions from last season .

I noticed that Moussa Sow (Lille) is in the top ten of goals scored in all of Europe. Seems like a great signing that no one's talking about. Rennes, his former team is doing good without him though. I also noticed Pappis Cisse(Freiburg) is in the top ten and he used to play for Metz.

About a third of the way through the season, and there is still no clear picture of what's going on in the league. One thing is for certain Stade Brestois will not be winning it, despite being on top at the momment. Only 4pts seperate 1st and 12th, so this title is still anyones guess. It's all gonna come down to consistency, and we will see who are the best sides when 2/3s of matches have been played.

Seems more like an insult than praise at the moment.

more than just seems! if not exactly an insult, the remarks are anything but praise.

he has an excellent point as well, but nenê is a more complete player in my book: faster, covers more ground, and more intelligent.

Lyon looked the best I've seen them all season in yesterday's 2nd half. Gourcuff and Lisandro both really peformed well and I think they showed their importance to the team.
