Assist for Gedion on the 2-0. EDIT: Actually, it was the third goal. I don't speak Scottish, apparently.
I mean, it's terrible even by Scottish standards. On the plus side, Gedion is easy to see in this Rangers team.
Holy fuck, I love Zelalem— Croatia's Chosen Few (@Thesupergers) August 26, 2015 General sentiments from Gers twitter
636613042961260544 is not a valid tweet id Zelalem played 20 minutes for Rangers and has been involved in all 3 goals. Baller. ⚽️🇬🇧— Ross Harrison (@RossHarrison90) August 26, 2015 this Zelalem player is something else 😂— andyrabble (@andyrabble) August 26, 2015
This is a 3rd tier opponent. Let's say he fares similarly even against 2nd tier and the occasional 1st tier opponents he plays. Where does that lead after the loan expires? I can't see him playing for Arsenal still unless they're in a similar position as Man United a couple years ago when they were uncharacteristically like 8th and trotting out prospects as a result. Otherwise clubs of that class are conservative with their minute allocations in the face of a tens of millions difference if they don't make Champion's League. So he'll likely either sit the rest of the season, play in reserves, or prove himself on another loan. I vastly prefer that final option so he plays at a high enough level to where Arsenal could trust him enough to start next season for him at least to be a squad player. With his patient, possession style, he should be playing toward the top of some league. I'm thinking Ajax/PSV, Porto/Benfica/Sporting, Anderlecht, etc.
Rangers is likely to be promoted this season. I wouldn't be surprised if they loan him out again to them next summer: he'd be 19 and starting in the Scottish Premiership. From there to the Arsenal bench is a small hop.
he could crack aresnals FT with a good preseason, but if he doesnt a loan is highly likely. if he does amazing this stint i ca see a loan to lower premier league or top holland club
I'm talking the 2nd half of this season. This loan is only until the winter transfer window. I want him to stay on a progressive but gradual ascendancy level-wise. I'd be disappointed if they extended the Rangers' loan until the end of the season, and a Rangers in the Scottish Premiership level is about what I'd like to see him playing by the end of this season. So next season when the Rangers are actually in the top flight he'd be beyond that.
And Rangers would bite Arsene's hand off at the thought of a 2nd loan. Let's see how the league goes before we get too hyped.
They can extend his loan, and judging by the way he's getting hyped right now among the Gers fans, I'd say chances are they will. (Unless he flops, of course, but that's not going to happen, I hope) PS: Anyone notice how Celtic has been eliminated by Swedish/Slovene teams in European competition, in recent years? I guess that makes the Scottish Championship NASL quality, at best, no? GZ can't fail.
Whoever has the discretion, Gedion and/or Arsenal, I don't want them to allow the loan to be extended. A year in the Scottish Second Division is too long to me. I was against the move to begin with, but I saw some merits in a half season loan for him to get his foot in the door. However, he already would have had that in a half season. Not much more to prove after that point.
If his options are Arsenal's u21 team and Rangers...he'd be stupid not to play for Rangers the rest of the year. He's getting pro minutes in a physical league, which is something that he needs to improve on considering his frame. What's the problem?
