Thread title change time? I vote for Gedion Zelalem: The Loan Ranger but there's some other good ones here. @bungadiri @Friedel'sAccent ?
Damn, I f'ing hate Rangers. I hate it when Yanks go there -- Reyna, Edu, Beasley, Bedoya, Bocanegra and now Gedion. I had/have to root for those guys because they are Yanks. And while I am not in any way, shape or form rooting for Rangers I feel like dirty - I feel scummy - for doing so even though they are fellow countrymen. I assume this is how green fans and blue fans feel when a rival puts on the national team shirt of Scotland. Oh well......I wish Gedion success. Playing in front of 50K every week and in the rugged environment of the Scotish Championship can only make him grow as a player.

He'll help send them to the top flight - and will probably be long gone by the time Celtic have to face Rangers in a league match. There won't be a conflict of interest this time around.
Nah. We can create another new one. Just like the old days. I'm staging a YA traditionalist revolt. (Seriously, if this is a pain in the butt, I'm happy to get rid of this thread and simply rename the original. I just liked the old days where each phase of a player's career was marked by a new thread.)
I wonder....did his loan move to Rangers have to do with sponsors? They too are sponsored by Puma....
Yeah, you can definitely hear the English influence creeping into his accent. Hopefully his time in Scotland will cancel some of that out, but then God only knows what he'll sound like after that...
Interesting choice by Arsenal for the young, skinny kid. Glad that it's only for 6 months. Hopefully he can get in a few good appearances and make an impact. Hard to see him as a consistent starter, on just a 6 month loan.
The Ibrox definitely has a great atmosphere when Rangers have anything to care about. But that shouldn't have been much of a factor in this decision. Would have been kind of cool if Rangers didn't fail in their 1st promotion attempt. Gedion looks a happy bloke now. Hopefully it stays that way and he isn't regretting the decision in a month or two playing amid butchers and terrible comp.
I genuinely feel sorry for this kid. Neither his parents, his team or his agent love him. Perhaps they don't even like him. What is the over and under he gets his ankle broken, leg broken, hip broken, clavicle broken, or shoulder separated in the first 25min of play? Say goodbye to all your teeth kid, you're in a place that if you're not ugly, you will be soon enough.
It's a wonder that there are any able-bodied males left to play the game in Scotland. Reading this forum I would expect to see graveyards and limb-strewn patches of grass where once there were fields. I can't profess to watch the Championship very much, but the SPL is less violent than MLS and substantially less dirty than what we see in CONCACAF. The biggest problem is the quality of the field. Also, yes center backs are large (as everywhere else), but players in the Scottish league tend to be smaller. It's scrappy and physical, but it's not as if it's Calgacus squaring off with Agricola.
I really like this move. Is there a way to watch Rangers' games in the US outside of illegal streams?
