Kudos to RSL for coming out to play. I sit in the supporters section and we are usually ruthless in our contempt for teams that bunker. We boo them and are vociferous in our contempt for them and their coaches - they have to walk past us at halftime. RSL came to play and we clapped them off the pitch for their courage and their heart. Go on RSL! Hope you make the playoffs.
I was there too! I have a friend in Atlanta and I used this as an excuse to go visit. It was an incredible atmosphere, and the Atlanta fans around me were all incredibly nice. All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I already want to go back the next time we play there.
We knew you'd be there, Irondeepbicycle - that's why 70,000 came out to sing for you. We were told that the roof would be open, but alas! Maybe next time you're here.
yeah, they kept the asshole closed. That was sad. As was the performance from the Falcons the next day. Though, as a man married to a Saints fan, it was alright.
We prefer to call it the "Sphincter", thanks very much - and as far as the Falcons go, with all apologies to Uncle Arthur Blank, I have only room for one kind of football in my life.
I was one that thought RSL should park that bus and bunker, bunker, bunker. However, that's not what soccer is supposed to be about and although we didn't go all jogo bonito, at least we tried to make it interesting. Just a few less steps on a couple of those offsides and maybe we would have come away with a draw. Maybe. Anyway, RSL got to see what it is like to play in Atlanta, so when the finals of the MLS Cup are played in Atlanta this year, it won't be anything new for RSL to play before a big crowd and we'll take it to Atlanta this time.
Unfortunately, Big Dev is also in the Atlanta system (he's with AU2), Two goals in 1200 minutes or so.
