Does said process consist of removing any chance people watch the game on TV,selling off your best players to build a team around a big name German legend likely to retire soon, and losing to a team with a keeper so bad we didn't even want him?
This just reminds of the one time that Rose Lavelle made her first appearance for the USWNT and everyone was trying to figure out what the writing was on her hands. Turns out it was just her homework for that night.
I think the tribute match virtually assures this will be Basti's last season. He's been terrific to have, but time marches on. It makes next year even more scary than this year.
If we had any kind of decent ownership, we'd be falling all over ourselves to keep him part of the club. He seems plenty capable of coaching, if he wants to be an executive, let him. If he wants to go back to Europe, make the man head of European scouting. I don't care, do what it takes to keep him involved. He's the only thing short of jokes about our capos that bring the club any kind of recognition.
Far more likely he'll be a director, or ambassador for Bayern. Why would he want to deal with the frustration of being a (much lower paid) employee of a scumbag like Hauptman, and/or tarnish a sterling reputation by association with same. This club HAS NO reputation left, thanks to Hauptman and his band of merry incompetents. Far better to be a director, or better yet, ambassador for Bayern. Enjoy the well-earned status as a legend for club and country, enjoy being around to see the little ones grow up in the company of a talented, beautiful spouse. ...and the gratitude of us in Chicago who appreciated his efforts to bring professionalism, class, and superior on-field ability, however brief that time has been. It made an immediate and obvious difference for several of the younger players, hopefully that influence will carry forward in their respective careers.
Why are we even talking about a team ambassador? Hauptman hasn't even hired any since he bought the team. What makes you think he'll change that tradition with Bastian. And no, Klopas is not a club ambassador he is the color guy for the streaming broadcasts that don't exist yet.
