I'm trying to get what I think would be our powerhouse starting 11 done.... I still have robbie rogers and Leo to do. Penedo is done and I will post him tomorrow. There will be a few others too: Jose Villareal, Dan Gargan and BJIV are in the works. Though I imagine there will be some discussion about "powerhouse starting 11" and "Leo" in the same phrase.... It's still what I think our starting 11 will look like when we have everyone healthy and back and integrated Gio Keane Zardes Gerrard Lletget Juninho Rogers Leo Omar AJ Penedo
Yeah, it was mentioned earlier that bruce drinking from the champagne bottle might be a favorite... but i'm not sure what pic that would be referencing. can someone post a link to the specific picture? i could also just do one of bruce arena without the bottle...
So when you get done with the portfolio of LAG players, are you going to start doing characatures of BigSoccer regular posters?
You're moving into tricky territory....I have found over the years that people don't actually like their own caricatures. They like what I do of OTHER people... but when they see themselves, they don't like it. I do caricatures for corporate clients too and I end up having to basically do portraits. If I exaggerate features, then they are much less popular. This shows even in the ones I've done here. I can exaggerate features a lot more, but I'm trying to do something that looks good while still being a caricature.
I'll be honest - I really like your caricatures. But for a few of them the blank white teeth part spoils it for me. Obviously others may have a totally different reaction. It's not the exaggeration - its just something about the amount and intensity of the white overwhelms the rest of the picture. And sometimes (Penedo) it looks like they have a giant marshmallow in their mouth. Love them otherwise. Just honest feedback - hope that's not rude.
No problems. you're not the first person to tell me that. It's a design choice I make- I don't personally like the way they look with teeth drawn in, so I choose to just portray it this way. It's not rude at all. I do this for a living and believe me, I've heard opinions about my work. making changes and keeping clients happy is all part of it, just like with any other job.
Dude, how did I not visit this thread until now!?!?!? These are awesome @rtdavide ! Cool! I also like Omar's the best. There's something of his 'tude in it.
People need to have a sense of humor. My avatar is a caricature (or rudimentary charcoal drawing) of me drawn by a colleague. I love it.
I could tell you some stories..... One lady, who was a friend that actually got me the first paying gig doing caricature for her lawyer boss, actually ended up accusing me of "never liking her" after she saw hers. Everyone who knew her said it looked just like her. She was sending me pics of when she was around 20 to give the best look...... wanted me to channel her 'inner Sofia Loren' (she wasn't bad looking, just a little older and heavier- like a lot of us- but no Sofia Loren....) I ended up just drawing a hot woman and then she was happy. Didn't look anything like her, but she didn't really care. There are a lot of emotional issues that go with our images.... I mess with that at my own peril
