It kinda sucks, since he's obviously a Chelsea legend (I'd say he's our best player ever, personally), but it's for 6 months and fitness purposes. I doubt he'll play especially meaningful minutes, but he may appear in a dead rubber game in the CL since Citeh are having trouble with home grown quotas. I'm sure he'll get a huge ovation at Chelsea (I forget when Citeh come to the Bridge this season), but it's not a huge deal. Our midfield was a giant mess last season, and we finished third. It's not as if he's going to help the side that finished first last season while he's a year older. In a few years we'll all forget about it, too. After all, even DiStefano finished his career in Spain away from Real (ironically with Kubala).
Not to mention that no one welcomes people by their last name. Welcome Frank, or Frank Lampard. Welcome Lampard sounds odd. But then, Citeh's marketing the last few years has been really awkward.
Obviously, I knew about the move already. When I was going through my Twitter feed, I had to do a double take because it just looked so odd and out of place.
@globoesportecom: Guardiola reclama do estilo que o fez triunfar no Barça: "Odeio o tiki-taka" http://t.co/3vlXF1s7NK
Didn't see the game. Did MLS team play that rough ? I saw the highlight of one of the fouls which looked bad and I saw the American commentators talking after the game criticizing Pep. But I don't really trust them (Lalas)
There were two hard fouls (one of them on Schweinsteiger). Pep had a legitimate reason to be upset, but there's no excuse for the tantrum he threw (he refused to shake the MLS all-stars coach's hand). Pep also has a history of these sort of incidents.
Yeah he can be "sensitive" and a dick. But I get his reaction. It's the job of the coach to set the tone even if it's with players he doesn't really coach. That's why I was wondering if it was 1-2 tackles or more than that. I can see these MLS players coming out there wanting to prove something and being over eager for something that is just a warm up game for Bayern. Just read one of the MLS player's statement which proves the point. “We wanted to press a high line and part of that is guys making tackles,” MLS defender Bobby Boswell said. “They didn’t appreciate that but when you’re a World Cup-caliber team you have to expect some of that.” I'd be pissed too.
I agree and I wouldn't be happy with what happened. I just disagree with the way he went about it. I mean, what did Pep really expect to happen in this game? This game has been played for several years now...
Apparently now he knows what to expect ... and wants revenge. He really hates losing. “I expect they are going to invite us back next year to try to make our revenge,” Guardiola said after the All-Stars claimed a 2-1 victory. “I’m going to prepare a little bit better. Now we will be sure what is going on. We will prepare much better. That will do, I hope, our invitation.”
Before you responded to the story, I was going to jokingly tell anyone to raise complaints to Pep's personal PR guy, YOU!
I figured your inbox for that is a bit full. Looks like Enrique will keep him around after all. This should be good entertainment yet again.
Won't happen, apparently you need an Argentinean passport to play with us now. Imagine if Santos had stayed and Alves came in. You'd have the starting FBs of the Selecao circa 2011. Not too shabby
Now that Santos is gone, Verdão can bring both in two reunite the unforgettable 2011 duo. Abra o olho, Nobre!!!
After a harsh tackle by Seattle's Ozzie Alonso in the 65th minute, Pep went after Porter: Porter had no idea what was going on: ESPN Twenty-five minutes later, there was another bad foul, and Pep took his complaints to the fourth official: No Bayern players were injured, although Bastian Schweinsteiger came out of the game with a bruised ankle. It all ended in a fingerwag.
Speaking after the game, which the All-Stars won 2-1, Guardiola claimed he did not shake hands with Porter because he did not see him. But the former Barcelona coach was seen wagging his finger in a dismissive manner at Porter as the All-Stars boss approached Guardiola. "I didn't see him," Guardiola said at his post-match media conference, according to USA Today. "We tried to respect the rules of the game…I appreciate the effort of my players. It's not my job to be concerned with their tackles. That is another person's job. I don't know if he did it." That was the best excuse you could have given Pep, @celito ?
It's the one that says, I don't give a shit. The real question is, why is there even a post-game conference for a game like this ?
it's not even a big deal, I would have probably been pissed too. Pep was probably pissed because he knows the tours just for money. Most of these friendlies are a complete joke on joke pitches. Idk why Mengao is so excited about it. That Caleb Porter guy is pretty corny, I tried watching a MLS match a few months back and it was 90 degrees out and yet he was wearing a scarf with a suit lol. They are trying to hard.
