Years back, too many to count. I was in the British Para's when our outfit flew into Cyprus. We arrived late so they fixed up a meal in an infantry base. They must have dragged these poor squaddies in from anyone who hadn't gone into town because it was awful simply the worse shit I've ever had in my mouth, and we live rough out in the field. Then suddenly a commotion behind the counter and the big guy in the white outfit and red face yells. "Who called the cook a cunt..??!!" Of course the yell comes back from the gang being served "Who called the cunt a cook...!!!" That's when the fight started.

forgot all about this thread. My last deployment before retired was in the desert. I just made E9 and had some young butter bar 3 months out of OTS walks into my tent. Conversation went something like this Chief I need to report I lost my Cell phone. LT that is an equipment item. That is going to cost you Chief, I did not exactly lose it, I know here it is. OK LT, where is it? Its in one of the porta potties near the flight line LT, You need to retrieve that. Were you getting email on that phone? that phone had all the base numbers on it too didn't it? We may need to get the OSI involved Chief give me a few and I'll retrieve it 20 mins later he walks into the tent with a cell phone in a zip lock back and him smelling like crap. LT did you get this out of the porta potty yourself? Ya Chief I stuck my hand in there until I found it LT, You are a God damn officer in the USAF. You have a Bar on your shoulder that allows you to tell some airman to do that shit for you. Did they not tell you how to use that LT bar in OTS? I shook my head and then told him I was ready to write that cell phone off anyway but thanks for finding it. He shook his head and walked out of the tent.
Same deployment to the desert one of my jobs was to meet the civilian trucks at the gate and escort them on to the contractors site. these were usually Iraqi trucks driven by Iraqi drivers. I would always check out a 9mm and grab this young A1c and have him get an M16. One day at the gate he turned an asked why he always had to walk ahead of me. I said because AF reg 8-2 says so. he said he was not familiar with that reg. I said 8-2 two reads my 8 stripes are more than his 2 so he has to do what I say. he just stared at me. I said let me rephrase this. Over last 23 years the AF has invested over a million dollars on my training. They are in to you for about 125k. Who has more value to them, me or you? he said you. Thats right so you catch the bullets coming my way
Surprised he would ask such a thing in the first place. He should've known from the beginning and note even question a senior NCO in the first place.
Even if I was a private, I would not do something like that if an officer told me to do so. I would've gone all the way to a court martial before I fetched a cell phone that some butter bar dropped into a porta-potty. I knew a soldier that dropped his ********ing M-16 and another who dropped his M-9 in porta-potties. They went in and fetched it themselves.
