I remember there were rumors of Tottenham offering about 22 million (not sure if it was Euros or pounds).
Hope this move goes well for Rossi. Don't be surprised if he helps out in MLS or US Soccer after his career is over.
Rossi was an amazing player. I remember the Altidore/Rossi game day threads. Villarreal was a joy to watch. He could take over matches like Lebron James or Kobe. I hope he can get to somewhere in the range of that level. If so, Fiorentina will have a nice attacking squad.
He went in the winter window. It was a nice salary dump by VR, plus they got some $$/€€ in exchange but it's nowhere close to what they have made had he been healthy and they not in La Segunda. Nor was there - wait for it - a limp. BTW, I think his sister Tina had been posting videos of him training over the last several months. He's a Joizy boy. Are you from Joizy? He is from Joizy.
The dude is as American as it comes...Until he steps on the field, where his Italian heritage trumps all I guess? ....
Began full training today at Fiorentina for the first time since his consecutive major knee injuries.
Per a couple sources, looking like they are planning on him getting a few games in this season, great news!
Don't be surprised if Rossi makes the 18-man squad today vs Roma. Has returned to full training at Fiorentina and they are right in the mix for a Champions League spot.
He's finally back. Rossi will be in the squad for Fiorentina's match against Siena tomorrow. Will be his first competitive soccer since October 2011.
Man, oh man I wish we had Rossi. I'm salivating over his ball-handling skills - can anyone besides Dempsey and Adu match his juggling? Perhaps Jozy, Bradley or Holden. http://www.insideworldsoccer.com/2013/07/giuseppe-rossi-joaquin-showboating-fiorentina-training.html (Trick at 0:25 is harder than it looks).
Also, I can't wait until Roma plays Fiorentina. I'll be looking for a Bradley tackle on Rossi at some point....nothing unsportsmanlike however.
YA status does not necessarily conform to national team status. We track players who are or have the ability to become citizens. There's always more interest in those who might play for the US, but we still include people like Rossi as YA.
