I can't even piece together what is going on in this photo. The keeper looks downfield; did he come out and miss the ball? is the goal somewhere behind him? Not a good look for anyone in a Fulham jersey
Yes, goal is to the right, and Ream is in the process of getting owned by a fake shot as Tielemans taps into an open goal.
Amazing that he was called up. Otoh, looking bad with the next to worst team in the best league (based on 4 quarter-finalists in CL, no other league had more than 1) in the world is better than looking good in a weak league.
I rather have someone who's good in MLS than someone who's trash in England. There's a psych factor, once losing becomes the norm.
Note the lack of precision as well. By all accounts, Ream excelled at the Championship level. I would say he's a good player, not a great player, whose weaknesses have been exposed by the pace and physicality of the Premier League. I try not to oversell him, even in his own thread, but several posters here have a clear Ream complex, which causes them to undervalue him at every turn. I was mildly surprised by his call-up, but mostly because I feel that at 31 his time has passed. His call-up definitely concords with what we've been told Berhalter values, however.
Precisely never, going back to the 2009 gold cup where he was physically dominated by sub MLS-level Panamanians. I remember seeing Chad Barrett make him his bitch. After that, I knew he would never be a top USMNT player.
I thought that was the 2011 Gold Cup. Ream is just another of guys who is solid at club (specifally in the Championship) but weak for the NT.
Well, and there’s just the fact that Ream is proven trash in any shirt vs. competent players. Fulhamish pod has even given up on him. His name and appearances are a punchline for them. And rightfully so if you watch him. He’s just not a good player vs. anything close to quality. Yeahhhh...think you may be overvaluing him. Just watch him any time he plays first division talent. It’s ugly man. Really ugly. On top of it, he’s in his own head because he knows he sucks. And that makes him make even more errors. Meanwhile, CCV and Zimmerman out here pulling up trees.
The fact that there are still deranged Ream defenders makes me wonder. Are they brand new fans who blindly assume an EPL player is quality? Have they watched Ream for 10 years like many of us and somehow judged him to be an adequate player? Has Ream kidnapped their family and held them hostage for favorable Bigsoccer posts?
Dear God, I hope no one has watched Tim effing Ream for 10 years. I can’t even contemplate that level of depression and exposure to ineptitude.
My ten years constitute his NYRB years, his irregular inept appearances for the national team, and then just reading about his English “successes.”

Rico gives away one of the dumbest penalties I've ever seen, in a perfect summation of why Fulham is going down. 2-1 to Liverpool.
Fwiw, I thought Ream played very well against Liverpool. He was isolated a couple times against Salah and showed well. The only glaring mistake I thought he made was, in a 2 on 2, he should have screamed at Chambers to push out to the other man instead of just gliding back.

Did anyone else see Tim Ream tell himself to f**k off during today's USA-Ecuador match after a bad giveaway? 1108910759952683009 is not a valid tweet id
Ream is actually pretty steady, he's just not steady at an EPL/National team level. That said, while a guy like Robinson is more exciting and actually provides something going forward, he was also a major mistake-in-waiting. Ream is a very adequate Champs defender, but has no special thing to bring to the next level
Starts for the US v. Chile at 8 PM Eastern on ESPN2 and UniMas. Our XI in Houston. Bring on 🇨🇱. Lineup notes » https://t.co/seLZkC5uUB pic.twitter.com/EeR6VzUcnQ— U.S. Soccer Men's National Team (@USMNT) March 26, 2019
A two-game breather with a win and a draw, in between playing Liverpool and Man City. Until the USA comes up with 2 better left backs, he will still be get a call.
