Clint Dempsey scored today against Liverpool in the 85th minute to become the all-time leading scorer in the Premier League by an American. His 37 goals eclipse the 36 score by Brian McBride. Well done Deuce!

And this comes with him playing midfield at least 70% of the time over the course of his career with Fulham.

Other players will break this record some day, but you get the feeling none will have truly earned this mark the way Deuce has.

Incredible game by Clint. Could have had 2 or three, and absolutely terrified the Liverpool defense all night. Do you guys think it is a possibility he leaves Fulham at the window with all the rumors of the players not being satisfied with the club situation? and he has clearly shown he can compete with any team in Europe, most specifically England.

That shot he hit off the crossbar after breaking Johnson's ankle's was slick, would have been an awesome goal if it went in.

I like your optimism. It's hard to imagine any other American scoring 40 goals or so in England's top flight at this point in time. But you're right, Dempsey has had to prove himself time and time again. Best American outfield player to ever play in Europe by a mile.

Even though he's out of contract in the summer (I believe) I don't think Fulham will sell. The threat of enduring a relegation battle has been staved off a bit by this win against Liverpool, but they've struggled for points all season. Ultimately, Fulham will survive but the few million pounds they'd make selling Dempsey wouldn't be worth risking tens of millions of pounds and relegation by selling him. I think he'll wrap up his contract this summer and move on.

There will be an American Little Pea over the next 15-20 years. I don't think that will be too optimistic of a guess.

Was painfully reminiscent of his shot off the crossbar in the Gold Cup final.

I like your enthusiasm too. How's the south side?

I agree. They are too close to the relegation zone to give up Dempsey.

    The southside......devoid of a soccer scene....but alright.

37 league goals in 161 matches. You can't say that's not impressive

I don't see anyone breaking his goal-scoring record for Fulham anytime soon. I think Zamora has 18 or so. AJ, well he's nowhere near.

I can see them selling him next summer as they will feel it's the best chance to get the top dollar for him. He's carved a little niche at their club. If he doesn't leave though, I see him staying at Fulham for years to come and Jol bringing in some players to complement him on the pitch.

okay, well, to put it better, he's been an under-the-radar star in the US sports media...with attention going to Donovan or stars of the moment (Adu, Altidore, Agudelo...maybe it's an 'A' thing). He deserves more..
