That's big news, even on Dempsey Deadline Day. We (US fans) were staring at an immediate future of our captain being exiled in the Scottish 4th division.

Wonder in JK had any part in this. I know he still has contact with Tottenham and was a recent coaching candidate.

Doubt it, Spurs know who Dempsey is - no need for a recommendation from Klinsmann

Completely unrelated, but kind of out-of-the-blue:
Essien to Real Madrid for a one-year loan.

He was linked with Arsenal, but RDM nixed it.

I would not be at all surprised if Jurgen did. But Dempsey already has an excellent rep in the EPL, and is a well known quantity. AVB also got to watch him score a goal against his squad at Stamford Bridge last season.

No way JK needed to be involved in this deal. He isn't an unknown guy coming from MLS or something. Good lord.

We don't know if he had any part in this but one thing for sure is that he is one happy man right now knowing his best player is going to his former club.

I wonder if we'll ever know who's to blame at LFC.

I've had a pretty decent if limited impression of Brendan Rodgers and I really thought Clint would do well there. I was really, really looking forward to him working into that team. Also: It's clear they tapped Dempsey up, and it's clear that he had his heart set on LFC; so I was just hoping for an easy transfer and a positive transition all around.

Point being: I'd really like to blame somebody. But who?

(I know the logical answer is Kenny Dalglish -- but this is no time for logic.)

I don't think JK was needed. Just wondering if he was involved. Not implying it wouldn't have happened without JK;s blessing or anything of that nature.

$9.6m is roughly 6m pounds, the amount of the transfer fee

three years is the length of the contract, no details on the salary.

    Hopefully that helps:)

Spurs are on FSC tomorrow. Clint won't be available but it'll be a good chance to see how he might fit in. With VDV gone I'm sure Sigurdsson will get his first start. Sorry, 2nd start, he started against Newcastle

I'm going to create a poll thread later tonight with all the submissions for the title of the new Dempsey thread. Please post your submissions in here no later than 11:00pm EST. This one should be done as democratically as possible. I have an alert set, so you can quote my post (page 244) to help me find them more easily.

Is there a pundit that loves Clint Dempsey more than Iain Dowie?

I don't claim to be a Tottenham fan hahaha... I was about to just put "back 4" instead of the names as I'm blown away by how strong they're gonna be upfront.

Poor 'Pool fans. They couldn't muster up $6M for a player that score 17 EPL goals. More than their entire strike force put together over an entire season, which also cost them north of $50M.

And they still think they're a massive club.
