Villa was very active and had 3 very good crosses, besides he had the best chance in the first half that hit the crossbar. It's a shame that the fullbacks aren't pushing forward very well, I mean, they try, but there is an evident lack of talent and confidence. Muriel and Villa would have been a lot better with better support in the wings.

Villa was active, I'm not denying that, but he seems to have more speed than brains sometimes. I need to see more of him before judging him. There is hope though.

Pretty much the way I saw the game going. New coach and new tactics for us. Japan with new players that looked hungry to perform well at home

I am happy we won and there's still a lot to work on so we can't get too cocky.

As for the penalty it reminds me a bit of the one that was awarded to Man United in the Champions League. If a player turns his back and raises his arm in the process he has no one to blame but himself for the penalty. The referee has every right to interpret that as trying to make himself bigger which is intentional hand ball.

Defenders should never be so quick to turn their backs and raise their arms/elbow.

It was a PK in my opinion. The arm is not close to the body and it changes the trajectory of the ball

Can't mention that without saying that we should have scored a bunch too. Falcao should have scored 3 himself.

I thought of the man united game too - that was definitely a handball.

I’ll preface by saying I gladly accept the call. Looking at the replay it seems the guy raised his arm slightly in the process of turning and his arm/elbow was very close to his body at moment of contact with the ball

I have a vague memory of someone here trying to say Roca Sanchez didn’t “hand ball” against Japan Last year.

Any case - glad Falcao converted and we finished the game better than we started the game

One last thing about Japan, they are going to be pesky for everyone in Group C.
    Chile, Ecuador and Uruguay beware.

    Heck, we have to beware.
We may have to face this team again in the Copa if we Finish first and they finish Second.

Yes. The England one was not a handball though but still penalty.

    He dived !!!

Not missing Carlos Sanchez and think everyone can agree Barrios is better. Just worried after a few games of no MF to attack linkup Abel’s name might get thrown around

i will be extremely disappointed if during the copa america, players like Uribe and Duvan are not starting. Both of those two need to be 75-minute or more players this cycle. Uribe passes into open space and fights for the ball and is all over the field. Duvan, as we all said many times, is a fighter and creates so much pressure that other opportunities open up for others. You can feel both their presence on the pitch when they play.

i like what barrios brings to the table. i don't know if this would work but maybe we can try something like this:

    Lerma-Barrios
    Uribe-James
    Duvan-Falcao

Prefer Uribe for Lerma or Barrios
Diaz as LM and James RM

    So a 4-2-2-2

Uribe-Lerma or Uribe-Barrios is my preferred choice too; i just don't see CQ trying that anytime soon - especially with JFQ essentially out until 2020 and Cuadrado gone for awhile.

Luis Diaz and Villa - over time i would like to see them continue to get more minutes and start from time to time.

Best 11 if healthy (not including Quintero)

    —————— Ospina——————-
    Arias——Sanchez—-Mina——Mojica/Fabra
    ————-Uribe——Lerma————
    James/Cuadrado ————Diaz/Cardona/James
    ———Duvan——Falcao*———-

I rather have Duvan then Falcao who ever plays better with Duvan. Hope Borre/Cucho get better at finishing and they would be my option to team up with Duvan at top.
For Lb think Mojica better offensively then Fabra but worse defensively.
LM - up in the air. Muriel, Mojica, Cardona, Diaz.

When Cuadrado recovers he will go back to being our starter at RM. everyone else is too green right now

Hernandez and Borre arent in the team just because “problems in finishing“.....especially at least what hernandez miss is beyond definition.......he has some other issues to improve (normal in his age) .........but if you watch more often our players you will know if they can be starters or not.......your best XI is based in in bias...
In this moment for example hernandez havent been starter for more than a month....so he isnt in nt because of lack of definition...

The first 40 minutes of lerma were very bad....and it wasnt “out of position“...

A lot of times you have to verify if your infounded bias....it really happens....

    Borre/Cucho for the future.

    I don’t see Zapata-Falcao working.

Let make them a reality.....Borre is close but this season haven been so great like last year and for Cucho i honestly want to have more proofs that he will be important for us ........honestly i cant see the james or Quintero of him that a lot of watch......and at that age i was very excited with james quintero and muriel, that were having better achievemnts.

For example i wouldnt notice about Hernandez in this moment if he wasnt colombian.....

Yeah i see potential......but not a lot of impact oh his game.....sure he will be a good player dont know if a crack indeed starter.

Great analysis. I imagine that's the most you can do.......

you are the laziness of seeing how things work. A mediocre that cant see beyond results. I can't believe there are people with so much impediment to thinking.
