It was a nice ball from Sauerbrunn and a nice run from Press, but the goal US got is so avoidable. It was a very good 1st half from the team, but a very weak 2nd half. It's a bit characteristic Norway, having a top level that matches the best teams in the world, but the bottom level is horrible low and that's what happened today when the team conceded the goal. Gotta keep the pace up.

It was a very boring match with both sides unable to produce chances. USA clearly not at their best today, they weren't really sharp in the attack and Ellis has a long way to go with her new team. Our defense didn't have many problems with the americans today, so too bad we conceded a very avoidable goal today.

I'm not very surprised that Ada was so anonymous today, I feel like it happens almost every NT match I watch her play. Clearly the Norwegian NT isn't on the same level as mighty Lyon, and today Ada played against a good american defense which she's not used to in France - for me the disadvantage with playing in France and such a superior good team as Lyon. Not trying to drag Ada down, because she's an amazing footballer, but she's hyped up too much before every match the NT play. For me one of the weakest players today. Everything good offensive today came from Caro and some good play on the left side by Thorsnes and Haavi. Except from that, not much to be happy about. It might be that Ada's just exhausted from her season in France.

Luckily there's 5 weeks to go before the opening match against Netherlands, so there's still time and hope to improve the play.

this wasn't the best US team; only two starters, started in the 2015 WC final. But it does show the depth that certain big countries have as compared to smaller ones. Caro had an outstanding game, despite having to play in that unfamiliar AM role in the first half. She was finally allowed to move over to the the right in the 2nd.half. Thorsnes had a good first half but sputtered in the 2nd, though what you expect with all the distance she traveled as an FB.

The one thing I was disappointed with Norway was their predictability; it reminded more of an basketball game where the whole object was the get the ball inside to the big center with no option of passing back for an outside shot. It made it so much easier for the Americans to cover Ada(in this scenario; the big center). As well ,were all the short passes when trying to counter attack; the US was able to get back in numbers because of it. You can see the difference in the US goal;, long ball to Press who had all the space and time to work with because the defenders were caught off guard Where were the long balls from Norway? As the saying goes, variety is the spice of life!
It's a shame too, Mjelde was known make hay makers when she played mid for Potsdam a few years back. Norway really should consider bringing her up to mid.

Overall, somewhat disappointing weekend for Euro teams; both Norway $ Sweden went down to defeat against a injury plagued US squad. Spain lost to Brazil as well the Dutch against Japan. Makes you wonder if the real big tourney of the summer will back in the states where those winning teams will face off each other? Luckily Europe still got the #1 team in the world in France will play the red hot English tomorrow

this is not for the squirmish, but here's Canada's slaughter as obviously Costa Rica was not on Cruz control

last 2 goals are from the just turned 16 year old Huitema. Janine Beckie gets a hat trick.

Didn't the US finish last in the She Believes Cup behind three Euro teams? ;)

National team football is about qualifiers and major tournaments. Everything else is just testing and tuning. No need to draw big conclusions after a weekend of friendlies.

I'm not the only one that criticized Ellis's dysfunctional tactics & that more deserving players should be of made on the US team. In fact Christen Press almost entire Chicago Red Stars team could probably beat the current US squad(As Is). That's why I was disappointed at Norway's rather lukewarm showing, It was like they only had one outstanding player, and that was Caro(as Ada showed once again; she sure ain't no Pernile Harder!)

if anything it's showing that this time around that it's not going to be a very balanced Euro tournament, It's France looking above everybody else with only England(and if only Jones switches her usual starters to her subs) Germany.

But remember that France wasn't having great results in tournaments until they changed to a new coach who switched tactics to a way faster pace & style more reminiscent of the men's game(and they say it couldn't be done!)

Norway got try to change their tactics as well, instead of the predictable, telegraph your every move, one that played last Sunday. Perhaps than they might have a better chance!

wow, pretty impressive by Belgium, they didn't even the start their most heralded player, Wouleart till the 2nd half. No wonder blissett is keeping quiet on this one, lol

here are some others; disappointing game from Austria, they've been on a down hill slide ever since winning the Cypress Cup last year. In this game they conceded 2 goals in the first couple of minutes. Surprise, cause at least 3 of their defenders were getting starting assignments over at Bayern Munich as well as 3 attackers from the German Cup finalists, SC Sands

Caroline Seger finally got to show what she's got, she's not having too good of an year, as she's just a bench warmer for Lyon these days,

and here is Spain's loss to Brazil. Spain is in sort of a paradox in that the starting lineup is dominated by Barcelona, but they(Barca) can't seem to bring in the bacon as they havn't won the league championship in a couple of years

Hats off to Iceland who managed to pull nearly 8000 fans to Laugardalsvöllur for their friendly against Brazil yesterday. The success of the men's team is also affecting the women's team in a positive way. They are part of the same wave. Brazil won 1-0 thanks to a goal by Marta though.

There's a possibility that Iceland meets England in the quarter finals if England wins their group and Iceland takes the second place in group C behind the French. Perhaps we'll get the same scenario and outcome as last year when Iceland knocked England out of the Euro's in France? :p

Well, no wonder I am quiet about this one, since I couldn't find a frigging' streaming to watch the game live and I had to be content with a live-ticker (beurk ). Actually, the highlights posted here are the first chance I get to actually see something of that match!

Anyway, sure, it was a lame game. And if Japan keeps up with these tactical nonsense, they could finish dead last in the upcoming "Pacific" tournament. Are you happy with this? :p
