Oh look, Giuseppe Rossi “rules out a switch to MLS”. I wasn’t aware the guy had any offers from MLS even after NYRB did him a favor by allowing him to train with them. Guy is a douche with string cheese for knees. Tottenham my eye.
It is nice. In a related topic, I think it would be good to also generate a comparison of front office/organizational structure. I started to look at it considering the number of teams that have launched lately. For example, Atlanta has about 120 people from ownership, technical staff, sales and marketing. The total includes 15 to 20 people from the overall AMB company that probably splits time with the Falcons. Some of the technical staff includes USL and academy. DC has 75 people with 7 or so being outside medical staff. This is something that isn't included on Atlanta's site. But then DC doesn't list technical staff not associated with the first team. Anyway, just thought it was interesting.
Great interview with Rapids GM Padraig Smith from Burgundy Wave. I had the same opportunity to meet 1 on 1 with him before Christmas (though apparently BW got him to go more on-the-record than I did) and everything he says here tracks with what he told me. It explains in part why the Rapids have been so much more successful this offseason than last. https://www.burgundywave.com/2019/1...19-colorado-rapids-benny-feilhaber-kei-kamara
"Coach Hudson implemented a set of standards and when players didn’t adhere to them, they didn’t get selected." That works with 16 year-olds, not so much with experienced professionals.
I'm torn on that on and have been since he talked to me about it. I think it largely depends on what those standards were (which we didn't get into). I see no issue with a coach having a basic level of standards they expect from professional players and if you don't meet them then there's a problem. I mean, everyone agrees there's some level of effort you have to put in in practice. The question is, was the standard level unreasonably high for MLS players?
Not really. The San Jose data regarding supporters tickets (which is purportedly what is being compared) is simply wrong, and by a substantial degree. Terrace supporters season tickets are $250, not $400. . . . the Quakes’ new Terrace Pass grants access to each of the 20 home matches in 2019 for just $250. . . . https://www.sjearthquakes.com/post/2018/11/28/news-earthquakes-break-mold-250-season-pass
Dallas has a section listed at $180 for the year. Is that for all the MLS home games or is it a partial season?
