But the Sounders will still have to play Portland first with Schmetz putting out a bunch of school boys and guys on awful form. Miami ready to arrive as global soccer city https://soccer.nbcsports.com/2019/12/12/miami-ready-to-arrive-as-global-soccer-city/[/QUOTE] I think they mean Fort Lauderdale is about to return as one. George Best, Gerd Mueller, Gordon Banks, Teofilo Cubillas, et al say hello. Miami/Dade has not had first division soccer since 1976 and counting.
So it's just like the Galaxy, Red Bulls, Dallas, and several others who play in the metro area but not in the titular city of said metro area. Or in other words, why are you so bothered by this?
Apples to oranges. Fort Lauderdale has its own distinct identity as a town and place in soccer history under its own name. It is also roughly the geographic center of the SEFla megalopolis. Frisco is similar in geographical distance from Dallas, but the similarities end there. I am not so bothered. Just pointing out that Miami has yet to be welcoming to 1st division soccer. As for the exhibitions at Hard Rock, they are a shorter drive from Lockhart than they are from Melreese. And I don't see how an MLS team in Fort Lauderdale changes Miami's status much. Still lots of people in pubs watching soccer from somewhere else. But maybe Inter will draw more than half whatever crowd it gets from MiamiDade and BexMas will pull off their stadium deal, finally, and that wouldn't bother me in the least.
