I didn't like watching the Olympique Lyonnais matches. Most of the time I already knew who would win, so many times I didn't bother.

    a couple weeks back iirc

nono, i'm not saying that i'd rather watch the 'big teams' - i can't even remember the last OL match I watched, maybe the trophée des champions - i'm partial to most promoted teams - especially last year when they made a significant mark on the league - but honestly... as much as I appreciate some good football played with some heart... perhaps it's more a comment upon the larger picture of the league. Good technical football is nice, but well, we've seen it all before just as anything else, what does it matter whether if it is this team or that player. Some drama on the larger scale might be what is needed, not sure :/

This was mentioned on the LFP site and GolTV but the link above is for GOALTV. It's available only in Asia.

I think you guys are getting GolTV and GoalTV confused. GoalTV is a Chinese network that covered Ligue 1 last season. It's probably them that will have it again. That makes more sense, especially since Setanta has already picked up the Ligue 1 rights.

    Yeh that's "GoalTV" which I don't get.

The more famous "GOLTV" 's website is www.goltv.tv

@stealth, where was it mentioned on the real 'goltv'?

I doubt it too since Setanta already has coverage of it although it is sorta a possibility since GolTV did lose Serie A and they may be looking to replace that with something else.

    I don't know... I respect your views, ilv2.

But despite being a non-French guy and one who's never lived there, I've been a fan of Ligue 1 for years now and it still is one of my fav's. For me it does matter, which team it is and which player. Because there's nothing I enjoy more than analyzing teams and players and like I said maintaining and further adding to my knowledge of different players and clubs.

Obviously though, a lot of things are recently bothering me about the league as a whole (such as now selling and losing many talented youngsters WAY before they've even added anything to their domestic league and established themselves. I'm talking about guys like Adel Taarabt or Diaby who only made a handful of senior appearances for Auxerre. Or Gourcuff who left after only ONE full season and many who are now leaving before even having made their senior DEBUT!! )

Somebody who cares about the league and has the authority needs to do SOMETHING. Otherwise this will really hurt the league in the near future. Exporting players once they're established in this league to the other big 3 is something that Ligue 1 has long been doing and there isn't much wrong with it. But exporting kids who haven't done anything yet but have just potential is bad for this country and its league.

Thank god there is some mature loyal youngsters like Samir Nasri around who understand that what's best for them at the moment isn't immediately the bigger pay check but staying and developing where they are until it's time to move to another league and club like Bobby Pires did.

Pires was the perfect example of how it should be done. He was in France until he was 25 or 26 if I recall correctly and had not only given back to the league so much but developed into a great player and probably as good as he could've become in this environment. So then it was time for a move abroad and I fully backed his move. But sadly, few players are doing that nowadays. Many are leaving wayyyyyyy too early.

Nonetheless, I'm still a fan of Ligue 1 and the other top 4 leagues and follow them all and am very excited about all the new seasons. :)

absolutely agree, and your enthusiasm is really admirable - it takes a special fan to be so committed, but unfortunately (tying it back to the original issue) most fans abroad and their main provider, FSC, collectively aren't as genuinely devoted to football, in all of its many aspects.

Somehow I missed this and it answers my question in regards to Ligue 1 in the US. LFP doesn't seem to offer streaming of matches. I'd definitely drop the dollars for it. I didn't see it on Canal +'s site, does anyone know if matches are streamed from Ligue 1 and if so, who's providing the service?

I heard Setanta Broadband streamed Ligue 1 matches last season.

I am thinking of going to the Lens-PSG game. Is it definitely confirmed for the 12th? The Lens site is not selling tickets yet for some reason.

should be, keep on checking, or shoot them an e-mail.

the setanta broadband coverage was good last year - had a wide variety of games each week, and the commentators were ok. however, if you're looking to watch one particular team, then the subscription fee is a little too much really - you're better off looking for streams, even if the quality and reliability are atrocious.

FSC really needs to diversify a little bit.

Does anyone have the broadcast schedules regarding Ligue 1 for channels like Setanta, Canal+, GoalTV Asia, or anything else that can be watched online?

I would rather have a week by week schedule now then going to P2P sites and having them do all the work of scouring for the channels.

Is Setanta carrying Ligue 1 again this year? I Tivoed some of the matches last year and really enjoyed them. Of course, for some reason, my Tivo won't flip to Setanta anymore as it doesn't recognize channels of 1000. Oy....

I believe they are, but I have no confirmation. I'm hoping so, too. It is my favorite European league.
