Um no. They will get the injured players back and the new players will improve and they'll finish 2nd.

Bad summer recruitment strategy so they deserve to lose. Also good that they can focus on top 3 while St. Etienne and Marseille have to play Europa League.

Monaco at this point shouldn't be any where near the top three

Right but other than PSG the other spots are wide open. I couldnt even make a prediction now who would finish where. OL should finish 2nd based on their roster but they might not due to reasons we all know.

Benfica drawn against Chelsea tons of times too in the last years too.
With the set of players PSG has, it really needs to win against Chelsea, especially now that Chelsea looks weaker.

It is not going to be easy either for Benfica nor Zenit, also. :)
But luckily we didn't get to face against Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern for now. :)

Something to note, France could fall as low as 7th in the UEFA Coefficient rankings, leading to the loss of the 3rd CL berth. This, although it would be a blow to the prestige of Ligue 1, could be the kick in the pants that forces France's hand in getting smart by either shrinking Ligue 1 to 18 teams, getting rid of the League Cup, or both.

How would getting rid of the league cup have an effect/improve the situation?

By cutting down on the total possible games a European Ligue 1 club could play, which results in a fresher squad that doesn't have to be rotated as much.

I dont think the handful of games matter, clubs put out their reserves for these competitions so it is as useful for a coach to test out a youngster or squad player and see what they've got. Cutting the league back to 18 is a good idea. Italy needs to do the same.

Ever since the 3rd place team had to win 2 rds to get into the group stage, they have failed miserably at it. I think part of the reason is not having the same quality team that qualified the year before due to selling key players.

Monaco had to play Valencia without a lot of key players that helped them finish 3rd. They could have overcome it if they played a weaker team but a Spanish team is a bad draw.

Same thing with Lille the year they finished 3rd. Marseille changes half their team every year now. New stadiums aren't doing enough increase revenues.

Then you have horrible defensive minded French coaches who teams seem to like to hire for some reason.

Bilbao-Marseille game is fantastic. OM playing out of the minds. They are going all out to win it. Mandanada had the best save Ive seen in a while to keep them alive.

Despite me being pretty anti-OM, I definitely had to feel bad about guys like Lass and Nkoudou. They are playing well lately and regardless what I think about their club... they have earned my respect

Damn, same news as always ! we are so bad and look so incompetence in European competition it is really frustrating to watch.:mad::mad:

Both Olympique Marseille and Saint-Etienne have been knocked out of the Europa League by Athletic Bilbao and FC Basel respectively.

No more French team representative for us in the Europa League round of 16 now ! All were DONE just after round of 32.:mad::mad:
