Once there are no more Lyon, France becomes the shame of Europe. Fortunately, there has Guingamp...

The Greens need to win today. I know you guys want them to lose but for UEFA points we need them to win and they are playing against a beatable opponent.

Yeah I hope so too because I read another article today about them boasting how they have a better atmosphere than you guys (seems to come up every year) and its tiresome by now and just shut up if you cant even beat Quarabag or whatever the F they are called.

it's hard for me to compare atmospheres because at gerland i sit where the atmosphere is best. i went to GG once to see ASSE-rennes and sat in the end but not the end where the green angels sit, and the magic fans sit in the tribune. and i didn't see how GG was any better than gerland for a match like that. of course for the big matches like marseille or the derby both are chaud bouillant... one can't be much better than another.

two things are for sure - our team is better and our town is better. to my way of thinking no mattr how good the atmosphere is it's poor consolation for living in saint etienne!

Not too long ago I met a French guy in Manhattan that was from Lyon. I proudly told him I was an OL supporter and he made a disgusted face and said "Moi je suis pour Saint Etienne!" How does that even happen??

    - how old was he?
    - was he really from lyon itself or just from the region?

back in the glory days of les verts, outside of lugdunum itself the region naturally followed ASSE. one of my friends here grew up in bourgoin-jallieu (which is about halfway from lyon to grenoble); he's a die-hard saint-etienne fan and that was the norm in his school. he came to lyon to go to university and still lives here (and his son roots for OL :D).

there are plenty others like him, steffs who have come to lyon because that's where the jobs are. in the factory where i work it's almost 50-50, but that's a kind of a special case because the loire has a big metallurgical tradition... but very few jobs for machinists these days.

well, if he's really from lyon itself that's practically impossible. but if he was from like givors or somewhere, it's possible he just said he was from lyon for simplicity, and in those climes some people still root for sainté.

Always competing with Russia and Portugal. Nice to eliminate Zenit and Benfica but too bad Sporting and Porto advanced.

Well then there's Wolfsburg 3-0 Lille. I guess I cant be too upset because Wolfsburg probably is the better more talented team. Congrats to Guingamp for making the knockout stages. The smaller club advances and the bigger clubs (Lille and St. Etienne) go home. What does that mean I have no idea other our UEFA index wont be helped since EAG is too small to go much further. Lille and St. Eteinne won 0 matches total out of 12.

Rene Girard + Christophe Galter = sh*t. Typical medicore and clueless French coaches.

PSG will get some points they have a team and isn't Lyon in the EL?

EAG have momentum and this EL season the winner gets a Free CL spot so now everything to play for esp considering they are fighting the drop
