Counting bob bradley getting fired after calling up freddy for GC 2011, it's actually 6 of the last 5 coaches that brought him in that got fired immediately after. Kuopion was that only one that didn't. And they put him on their fourth division reserve team. So he quit. I honestly don't see how he climbs his way out of this one. I mean, will he even get into the 18 in Tampa?!
Which league will be his next stop ? Nepal (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martyr's_Memorial_A-Division_League), Dominican Republic (https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liga_Dominicana_de_Fútbol) or South Soudan (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Sudan_Football_Championship) ?
Even though saying "Freddy A-dun" is probably a little more entertaining, logic dictates that his absence is still probably injury related. Just last week Rongen was still the coach, and Adu wasn't in the 18 then either. You have to think if he was healthy that Rongen would have had him in the 18 at least. Side note: I would've thought there might be one beat writer in Tampa Bay covering the Rowdies or something, it's pretty much impossible to find any injury related news or anything for the team.
Yeah that's the really annoying part. We get news about the firing and game recaps but not much on the day to day of the team besides whatever makes it to fan sources.
Correlation isn't causation, of course, but Post 1 Post 2 Post 3 Out of the blue Rongen digs up and posts a Freddy quote from April, with that particular quote, on August 17th and his firing was announced on the 21st. Unless Rongen's part of that podcast went out live, I'd ignore it totally and suggest that Rongen's sacking was decided on the 16th and the announcement was delayed while a) his replacement was lined up and/or b) the terms of his settlement were decided. There's some element of causation IMO. These kinds of teams have very limited budgets and Freddy would take up a fairly hefty chunk of that. If he's not making a positive impact very quickly, he's going to be cut from the squad and the coach/romantic fool who brings him in is going to get fired.
I'm not sure $3,500 per month is that much of a strain on team finances. Rongen was replaced by his assistant pretty quickly so they didn't do much of a search. Everything points to it being a hasty decision. But yeah, maybe they had to do some settling behind the scenes.
True about the $3.5k, if it's gross. However, if that's net, The Rowdies have to pay taxes and workmen's comp on top. Freddy may have been able to swing accommodation on top, which may be taxable. It starts to add up. Rongen's assistant taking over points to a hasty decision, possibly due to a bust-up. Otherwise they'd have agreed to let him see out what's left of the season. If it was, given Rongen's August 16th tweet, my money is on Freddy being the trigger for (though not necessarily the cause of) the bust-up.
What we know is that Freddy is not playing, he's not in the 18, his injury didn't seem anything serious, and at this point he's cheap. We also know the fired manager re-tweeted one of the many 'positive' things Adu posted long ago. Frankly, the sum of all those things could be anything.
He brought adu in, who sux, refuses to put forth effort, is lazy, horrible teammate, locker room cancer. Adu is now AWOL. Where the heck is this guy? Hence rongen gets fired.
