If it really is the Achilles, that could be pretty serious, I think. Hopefully it's only a sprain, because a tear would probably kill what is left of his career.
I think a tear would have been pretty huge news. He did post a video of himself practicing about a week ago, so I doubt it's that serious. I'm sure whatever it is, it could be painful to play a whole game through. I wish we had better coverage of the team here. The Tampa Bay Times used to have decent post game articles but that dried up. We're left with fan sources mostly. Working hard to get back from injury. Don't make any excuses for why you can't get it done, focus on all the reasons why you must make it happen!— @FreddyAdu (@FreddyAdu) April 21, 2015 Rongen retweeted this yesterday from Freddy in April. Take from that what you will.
Rongen says Adu is "a week to two weeks to play" according to his appearance on the Unused Subs podcast. http://theunsubs.com/wp/2015/08/19/episode-47-episode-name-here/
Bad news for Freddy. Rongen is OUT. http://www.rowdiessoccer.com/news/2...-ways-with-farrukh-quraishi-and-thomas-rongen
Pretty much. I'm not particularly a fan of knee jerk decisions by owners. At least he got to play some FIFA with fans yesterday! .@Omaresalgado & @FreddyAdu hanging out w/ members of the #RowdiesFamily tonight at @RowdiesDen until 7. Come say hi! pic.twitter.com/2m6hYrJ074— Tampa Bay Rowdies (@TampaBayRowdies) August 20, 2015
Unbelievable. All the joking about that the coach being on the ropes because Freddy arrived and then this. Over and over it goes like this: Freddy arrives. Freddy plays. Freddy doesn't play. Coach gets fired. Freddy doesn't play some more. Freddy leaves. I don't even know what to think anymore.
Real life stranger than fiction! This is like groundhog day, he can't get to the next day, the same scenario over and over again. Freddy "Linus" Adu ( Lidus?) Freddy must be devestated and wondering what crimes he committed in his prior life for this punishment. Anyways, I'm not done till the fat lady sings, although I think her warm-ups are done.
Philly- coach fired Bahia- coach fired Jagodina- coach fired Kuopion- not fired Tampa- coach fired Of his last 5 teams, 4 of those coaches who brought him in were fired. Why? And did this happen before philly too?
In our case it's just a matter of an impatient (incompetent?) owner. But maybe everyone is like "OMG this guy is so dumb he brought in Adu! FIRED."
I can't believe how dead this thread has become. This really is the end, the end my friends. The end of Freddy. It was a lot of fun while it lasted but this is literally the end of the road. Guessing he'll retire by next month
I know that Tampa is in the eastern time zone and not much different from any of us. But can there be just one Rowdies fan that is drunk who could come on this thread and post? The future of Adu related threads is at stake.
Sooner or later, I'll be proven wrong, but I don't think he's anywhere the end of being able to find teams willing to ignore his track record. There is too much of a short-term publicity gain for the team.
If he's really just this close to being match fit, he should have every opportunity to make the team under the new coach. If he's good enough, he'll make the team. The problem is probably that he's not good enough. I doubt that this is the end for him, though. He'll bounce around for a while in the world's sub-top leagues before hanging his shoes up.
This is just unreal... they need to make a movie about this guy's career. No wonder Jurgen Klinsmann won't call him up lol....
