3,500 bucks a month won't take you far with the strippers.

Sadly after failing at so many levels for so many teams success for Adu in the NASL would be a poor reflection on the quality of of the league rather than a positive reflection of Adu's skill set. Has anyone discovered the circumstances behind why KuPS released him? Other than he couldn't consistently crack the 18 let alone play on a pretty bad team in a very mediocre league that is. The only chance he has of getting capped again is if he's reincarnated as a beer bottle

I make more than that. He's a pro athlete, an extremely talented one at that. I hope he does well.

Hey Rowdies fans, hope we're not buggin....

You guys are good and Rongen is a unique offensive coach, the squad sounds deep in midfield.

I'm curious, how do you guys feel about signing Freddy? Do you hope he jumps in right away? Is there anyone of your starters, that when you look at your team you would sit for him?

    Thanks!

For the record, Thomas Rongen's Twitter is insane and really funny.

I mostly agree with XaviusX's post earlier in the thread. We're first place in the combined table so there's no desperation in this signing. We can afford to take our time and work him into the lineup the right way. There's no one I'd clamor for him to replace, but I think he would have an easier time breaking into the forward ranks as we have a glut of midfielders, and I feel we're pretty set with guys like Saragosa and Hristov, but who knows. Rongen's a bit of a mad scientist so I'm sure he has plenty of ideas. I will second the recommendation of his Twitter! One of the fun ones to follow and he's interacted with me a few times already.

Some thoughts from Unused Subs, who do a great job of reporting on the team:

Big surprise, Adu not in the 18 tonight.

If there is a God, he has forbidden humans from watching Freddy Adu play soccer.

He's just too good. He'd make everybody else on the field look bad.

Well, a certain poster was adamant he was a top five talent in the world. Just the "haters" (12 year old posting) couldn't see it and were to stupid to comment.

Maybe adue....that poster was right the whole time.

I'm intrigued by the Adu signing. [And] I am having an open mind about it.

Maybe Adu can help our attack, bc we need it. Let's give him a chance and see who he pairs well with.

Jumped the gun? He wasn't even over jet-lag when the first game was played. Although I would love to see him play, I wouldn't expect him in this one, either.

He will play Saturday because I'll be at work and can't watch. Then next Saturday he will play again because I'll be with the in laws and can't watch. Then when I finally am free to watch a game, he will not be in the 18. This is the life of an Adu fan.

Got them all except the two Finnish clubs. Because who can possibly remember the name of a Finnish soccer team, and the other one was BS anyway. I don't remember any loan... what was that all about?

Yeah all NASL games are on ESPN3. I think all the teams link streams on their websites too, but ESPN3 is kind of easier and usually more stable.

Freddy doesn't get the start - on the bench. Hope he plays today!

whoa Gale Agboussoumonde (sp?) is on the Rowdies team. What a strange career that guy has - wasn't he at one point seen as the heir apparent to the CB spot?

Also, can anyone tell me about Rongen? Why is he coaching in the NASL? Seems like he's had a very interesting career and well respected...
