According to his agent/advisor Gilberto Silva, Fred is very eager to adapt to English football and lifestyle as soon as he can. He is insistent on having a teacher, not just a translator from day one, so he can learn the language as quickly as he can.
Not the most earth shattering news but a positive one, from the point of view of Fred hopefully settling in and making his mark on the team in relatively short order.

Great stuff, I look forward to hearing every single drip of information about this in separate posts over the course of the coming weeks along with a short paragraph of why it might be a good sign

At any rate...here is the article expanding on the point above and why Gilberto Silva expect Fred to succeed where Kleberson and Ando failed.

    www.si.com/soccer/2018/07/02/world-cup-winner-explains-why-fred-wont-be-man-utd-flop-kleberson-anderson

I think simply having someone like Gilberto Silva, who managed to be a success in England will be a huge help when it comes in helping his boy to settle.
And like it or not, the better/quicker his settling period is, the better his odds of success will become.

A little trivia on the name "Fred", which of course is a shortened form of "Frederick":

English form of a Germanic name meaning "peaceful ruler", derived from frid "peace" and ric "ruler, power". This name has long been common in continental Germanic-speaking regions, being borne by rulers of the Holy Roman Empire, Germany, Austria, Scandinavia, and Prussia. Notables among these rulers include the 12th-century Holy Roman emperor and crusader Frederick I Barbarossa, the 13th-century emperor and patron of the arts Frederick II, and the 18th-century Frederick II of Prussia, known as Frederick the Great.

The Normans brought the name to England in the 11th century but it quickly died out. It was reintroduced by the German House of Hanover when they inherited the British throne in the 18th century. A famous bearer was Frederick Douglass (1818-1895), an American ex-slave who became a leading advocate of abolition.

In his press conference today, Mourinho has announced that Fred will join the team next week in the US.
Which is very good news, as more than anyone else, he needs to have some type of preseason with the team to start his acclimatization.

It's a really good sign that he's turned up to work.

His learning the english language and lifestyle is coming on an absolute treat. He's able to say how many brothers and sisters he has and he's just bought a Dad's Army boxset. He's coming on leaps and bounds.

I sincerely hope he gets turned around at the US border after being denied entry, because of his 2015 doping case.
Sanchez needs a friend and training partner at Carrington: playing fetch with Atom and Umber is not a legitimate training regimen ahead of the coming season...
He'll also have the opportunity, while in Manchester, to visit Rolls, Bentley, perhaps even Lamborghini dealerships: because looking good while cruising the streets of Manchester is vitally important...

    Solid.

I still think balance is the optimum word for him with us. A good foil to Pogba.

Still not keen on Matic, but that's a different story.

He looked good tonight. Good on the ball and getting out of tight spaces. Good energy. Seemed a little lost defensively but new coach and system so that's expected.

Fred and AP in the midfield added more technical ability and control with the ball than I’ve seen in our midfield for years. The ability to keep the ball in a tight space and dribble out of a press is so refreshing to watch when you’re used to watching Pogba try to shrug off 2-3 guys or Fellaini/Herrera/Matic panic and hoof it away.

i was impressed by his quick feet and his ability to anticipate where the pockets of space would be. he also led united players into open space with one-touche passes on a few occasions.

Agreed but I was still disappointed that Mou allowed us to keep getting pushed back and provide Madrid with the ball even if they didn't do anything with it.

I get the impression were going to see a whole lot of counter ball this year. The good news is that appears to suit Fred's game.

has anyone given up on this guy already?

speaks volumes that all José wanted to say was Fellaini was unfit when Pereira and Fred were sat there and wasted. what have either of them done to not even get a sniff of a game now?

doing this dumb shit over and over with your own buys is exactly why José won't and shouldn't get any more money. 2nd place miracle or not
