From my recollection, they really didn't log or even count assists back in 2006. That wiki page may have been updated recently and it also might be inaccurate.
not trying to pick a fight or die on a sword. but i SWEAR i remember back in 2006 totti being named the assist king of the world cup. maybe i dreamed it.
Totti really is a player like no other ever before. Very proud to call myself a Romanista and Italians should be very proud as well!
I completely lost it when Totti raised his shirt in sync with the Gladiator theme, the whole Olimpico did. I went from watery eyes to Michael Corleone when his daughter got shot. It wasn't just sadness though, it was affection. Affection for a man that transcends football. I would follow Totti on the pitch, I'd follow him in battle, I'd follow him wherever he goes. And he would do the same to me. As he said he have led us for 25 years. Now it's our turn to lead him. That's pure loyalty. It can't be explained on paper or in words, even Totti's. Only in the tears of 60.000 people on Olimpico. It's a moment I will remember every second of for the rest of my life. As I took the heavy steps out of Olimpico I was feeling completely empty. It was awfully quiet outside as well even though we had secured a spot for CL. It got a bit better after sharing this feeling with everyone else at a pub. I decided to walk through Rome to the hotel instead of taking a Taxi. I didn't want it to end. Totti was always Rome to me. He made me love the team, the city and the people. Now I have to be Rome alone.
Paolo Maldini commented on Rai's Che Tempo Che fa yesterday about Totti. All he said though was that Francesco sent him the gold shoes but he made no mention of him going to Miami.... Che tempo che fa - Paolo Maldini - 04/06/2017 - video - RaiPlay

Am I the only one who thinks it would actually be sad if Totti decides to play in Japan? Almost like he just can't quit?
Unless he is getting a Beckham like MLS contract and/ or a big pay day, I wouldn't do it. I think he should just forget about it and take a back seat role that Roma offered him. On the other hand, administrative roles though aren't the easiest things to do for many star players. Very few have made the transformation successfully unless they go into coaching and even then , hardly any keep a job more than 3/4 years. Just because they have a top name doesn't mean anything in the coaching world.

Maybe not but his last paycheck as a player still ended on June 30th. Even if he gets money from doing spots and endorsements , I doubt he would walk away from free easy money for the title of assistant to the director or whatever you want to call it.
Lol what are u smoking man?...you think the guy needs more money? He was playing for peanuts for half his career with us.
