Wow. Those last 10 minutes really embodied the saying about possession without penetration...

I was thinking that there would be a winning goal, but the game was boring overall.

Boring match. England defensive and quite slow, France slower than shit. Most of the time anyways...

The conditions were extremely hot, that's why the game was slow.

The Germany/Portugal game was total garbage until Gomez scored.

No, because it wasn't followed up by another epic meltdown by England in penalties! :D

Seriously, most of the observations are hitting France just as hard. For a neutral that was an incredibly boring match. Even for many of the fans it was hard to stay interested.

Edit: That said, England had a couple of really solid defensive plays. Though it has to be said... is there a rolling ground ball that an English keeper can hold on to without fumbling? Hart nearly lost one :sneaky:

if you ever make it to a penalty shoot out, let me know how that goes. one day, you may only get knocked out by a few goals by a third world side, but this will take many more years of intense development of your resources.

not really, i just think a side that cant get past iran or ghana has nothing to crow about when it comes to the failings of others.

I'm afraid that this tournament may very well fail to live up to the pre-kick off hype. Over the last decade or so, we've seen a steady drop in quality at both European Championship finals as well as World Cup finals. I think this stems from the fact that these days, top level players simply play too many games over the course of a season. It should also be a concern to both UEFA and FIFA that teams are opting for ultra-defensive tactics in the group stages when the focus should really be on offense and entertainment.

What? It's been a fantastic tournament so far. There have only been 1 or 2 games that did not live up to hype.
