Notts County "bought" grow lights for a small section off the pitch which cost $90,000. Unfortunately our owners turned out to be con men and they were repossessed.
LAFC has three streaming views on their construction page. One from the North looking south, one from the south looking north, and then one view that can be repositioned to spotlight parts of constuction. http://lafc.com/live-lafc-stadium-cam/ James
Per this, Minnesota stadium now targeted to open in 2019. http://fiftyfive.one/2017/05/despite-complex-land-deals-minnesota-united-stadium-progresses/ LAFC stadium is certain for 2018. Here in DC the FO is still making brave noises about opening mid-season 2018, but with foundation work still being done time is running short.
And the Revs will play their first game in their new stadium the day the Patriots decide Gillette Stadium is too old and obsolete.
Ya know.... If the Patriots could get a stadium built in the metro area and design it to accommodate soccer (something like the Atlanta plans) that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Sure, wouldn't be the best either, but it would be better .. wouldn't it?
Why yes, in fact it would be the worst thing in the world! Well, maybe not the absolute worst, but close. That's pretty much what they tried to do back in the late '90s, but tone-deaf Kraft didn't know how to play local politics. A lot of NIMBY groups came out and opposed a Boston stadium, and the mayor didn't comply, so he hoodwinked those stupid hicks in Connecticut to go along with his plan. When that fell through, they build CMGi Field, whcih "was built with soccer in mind."
Ha, well so much for thinking out loud. You obviously know more about it than I do. It's a shame. I would love to see Boston stadium.
Maybe MLS should give NYCFC and NER 5 years to find a stadium, otherwise it's off to Detroit and St Louis. That's seems like enough notice and should motivate them to act with more urgency.
Who's going to place this demand on them? The other owners? I think not. A. all but two of them bought in knowing the Revs situation and B. none of them want to set a precedent that can be turned around against them in the future.
Ok, maybe Donny could ask them politely if they would consider look a bit harder into finding a stadium.
Kraft was the one who got Garber the job. If anyone has leverage over the other, it is Big Daddy Kraft. In all sports, the Commissioner works for the Owners, not the other way around. I remember being absolutely gutted in 1999 when the Hartford Patriots stadium deal fell through. No, I'm not a Pats fan from Connecticut who was looking forward to the NFL coming to town, it wsa the realization that the Revs would never, ever get out of the Pats' shadow. If they had moved, the Revs would have remained in the old Foxboro stadium. Given where MLS was at the time, there was no way they'd take a team out of a top-10 TV market with great attendance (remeber, we were Seattle before there was a Seattle) and let them go to like the 45th largest market. It would have been acceptable for the next several years, and playing on a grass field in a stadium where they controlled the dates, even if it was a dump, would have been fine. Like RFK without the rent. If eventually the old place became no longer suitable, then it would have put more urgency to find a suitable place for a new stadium. There is no urgency whatsoever now. We used to make fun of the Metros and their 60-90 days jokes, but at the time, the sinking feeling I got was that some day, who knows how far off, they would eventually get their stadium. For us, that day would never come. Today Red Bull Arena is one of the nicest stadiums in the league. And we're still playing in a too-big soul-less concrete edifice in the middle of a suburban shopping mall.

So, the object featuring all the signatures from founding members is going to be buried underground? Verily, archaeologists in the future will marvel at this treasure! "No, seriously dad, my name is on a slab 8 feet below that circle!" "I don't know you."
No, an aging, concrete slab of a stadium that is sub-par by modern standards, but at least it would be a place where only the soccer team plays, so they'd get first pick of dates and no lines on the field. It may be a dump, but it's our dump!

Well, I've got good news for you! Better sit down. DC's leaving RFK!! You guys should see if you can move in. Don't even tell the landlord. MLS loves cross-town rivalries!
Curious to see if it'll be as spaced-out as OCFC's Wall. Safe Standing should not be 1:1 with seat spaces, but rather 1.8-2:1. Take a look at German pics.
