I was banned from the expansion forum by @Sport Billy and when I asked for a specific reason why he really couldn't come up with the reason other than "trolling".

When pressed for more specific information, like which post was the reason, I was told a picture I posted, which was completely relevant to the conversation and was in no way offensive, was the reason.

I was also not given a length for the ban, an explanation on why it was a complete forum ban and not a thread ban and when I asked, repeatedly, for this information I was told to not communicate with @Sport Billy at all or else I could be punished some other way.

Can someone else offer me an explanation and give me some guidance?

First, it is rare to have a forum ban occur with a single post - bans happen due to an extended period over which instructions given by the mod(s) of said forum and are not followed. So your question about "which post" would not get a clear answer since it was not a single post but repetitive behavior in that specific forum.

As for trolling, that was the deciding factor. From the conversation, you were given multiple opportunities to calm down over the space of many months and ultimate did not heed mod instructions.

Further. when the ban was attempted to be explained to you, the conversation was deemed to be unproductive and you were not showing willingness to change your behavior.

Finally, when the ban was formally put in place, you proceeded to tag Sport Billy repeatedly elsewhere - another version of trolling, and an act which won't get the ban overturned.

You've pretty much covered it, Soccernutter. The only thing I'll add is just to note that Stanger is also toeing the line pretty close for a forum ban in MLS N&A because he seems unwilling/incapable of controlling himself whenever any Austin related topic is posted there. If Stanger is serious about getting the Expansion forum ban lifted, a good way to show his ways have changed would be to improve his posting in the MLS N&A forum and show that he can interact with Austin fans and Austin related topics in a positive manner.

My last tag of billy was in reaction to an invite from an Austin fan to post in a thread on their forum.

I’ll add that I can see how posters with no dog in the fight would interpret my posts as trolling, but they were largely in reaction to a few posters completely ignoring known facts.

I have modified my posting in n&a. Conversation isn’t impossible if facts are allowed to be posted in reaction to opinions.

And quite a snaky/disrespectfful post it was.

Taking a look at some of your posts regarding the Austin/Columbus discussion...it is not the issue of facts (well, it may be, but I'm not familiar with the details so I'll assume you are writing correctly), it is the condescending and combative manner in which you post.

Snark is a reason to ban? Better shut down the interwebz.

Your last point is the most interesting from a factual standpoint, at least to me. You don’t know all the goings on with AP during his time owning the Crew. I do. To see such blatant disregard to facts, past actions and to then praise the same actions we fell for while denigrating the Columbus fan base certainly caused the tone of my posts to be condescending and combative.

I won’t apologize for that, although I will point out I was never one to lob personal attacks without provocation, nor did I start any of the conversations outside the Crew forums. I replied to blatant disregard of fact with the vigor of someone that supported the Crew since before the league played its first game, who watched my daughter develop a love for the game while standing and singing with me in the Nordecke, who now enjoys watching the kids I coached standing with me and the rest of the Columbus support.

Again, I have censored my own posts in an attempt to converse with civility. I would appreciate knowing how long my ban will be and will expect posters like wingman, who seem to be bating Crew fans, to see the same heavy mod hand.

Just want to say before I start that I came across this while using "Austin" in the search function, and chose not to comment until I saw my username was mentioned.

Like I've said before, I genuinely want to talk with Columbus residents who can at least pretend to be open minded. I feel there should be less moderation between the two fan bases, especially against @stanger. I did suggest to stanger that he enter conversation in a shared thread for both Columbus and Austin after he continued to rant about Austin ownership in the 'MLS Stadium' thread (not the place for it). Many folk from both cities have held decent conversations in the Austin-based bipartisan thread.

And while I appreciate your attempt for civility stanger, you have not made an attempt at open-minded conversation before 6 hours ago. You enter conversations with a single purpose, which is to start conflict with Austin related postings. Anyone can view the Columbus forum and see your very opinionated comments right in the middle of the nasty hate speech that goes on with other Ohio residents. I suggest moving forward that you leave your discontent in the Columbus forum.

Out curiosity, what should Crew fans be “open minded” about?

And what does what I post in Crew forums have to with the topic at hand?

I believe the applicable part is the last sentence in his post:

Basically, the reason why you were forum banned from Expansion and why the MLS N&A mods have had to warn you is because up until very recently you have not been able to restrain yourself from behaving in a manner that, while acceptable in the Crew forums, is not acceptable outside the Crew forums.

So when a poster says something like “Austin is planning a state of the art training facility like ATL” (obviously paraphrasing) with no requisite proof other than a hopeful quote from an owner known for not being the most truthful, that’s just supposed to go unquestioned.

What kind of message board doesn’t allow statements to be questioned? I get you want me to not personally attack anyone, and I don’t believe I have, but I’m being banned for simply pointing out the statements coming from some of the Austin fans have no basis in fact.

Are we not allowed to question posters from the Texas capital?

    I think it's rather simple:

What goes on in another forum isn't my business. If I were to visit another forum and see my friend/enemy/whoever treated a way that I didn't agree with, I really shouldn't be shocked.
If there was a post I disagreed with, I'd use the "report" feature...but once again, the atmosphere in another forum might be different than what I'd be used to. For example: Bill Archer gets away with certain things in the Crew forum because it's the atmosphere of that forum. If a Toronto fan came in and saw his favorite player get called all sorts of names by said poster, does he really have the right to throw a hissy fit? Now...if Bill went into the TFC forum or any other forum and started throwing down, well, that's another story.

However Precourt or anyone else wants to treat Austin or anywhere else isn't my business. It simply doesn't affect me. If he only shows up once in ten years OR if he shows up to every game, drums with their supporters and funds their tailgates, that's no sweat off my back

Perhaps it's time to realize you've made your point and let things from the past stay there.

    I'm just saying.

    The short answer is.... Yes.

The long answer is... When venturing outside the Crew forums, you need to put what happened in Columbus behind you and give PSV the same benefit of doubt that you would given all owners in a similar situation. No one is saying you have to like PSV or Austin, but we don't need you jumping down the throats of anyone that makes a comment that involves Austin.

So, obvious non-truths get a pass because they are posted from the Texas capital.

Same for all forums? How would that go over in P&CE?

I can comment strongly about Columbus and Austin because I have first hand experience. We chastise NYCFC for their inability to play outside a baseball park, Miami and their continued issues with whatever is going on down there, but Austin needs to be treated with kid gloves?

Not to mention they don't even have anything except a piece of paper saying they can proceed. Perhaps posters can comment on "world class training facilities" when an announcement is made?

Aren't we supposed to keep some of this in reality?

The other two cities you mention have had issues, which people jokingly make fun of. How about you tell us here what exactly has gone wrong in Austin, other than your distaste for the ownership. A stadium contract being signed, a lease for office space signed, Front office staff hires, academy team to play in 2019, partnership with local soccer club to fiscally support their girls ECNL teams, scholarships for youth started two years early, an organized supporters group that volunteers and donates around the community...

All for a team that starts two years from now. You continue to urge moderators to let you 'chastise' Austin related postings because it is your opinion nothing will get done with Precourt. Are you acting out of line because things are getting done in Austin?

The rules are pretty simple, be respectful of others.

Maybe you should take your own advice?

    http://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/the-mls-stadium-thread.2031924/page-85#post-37485353

Other than a signed lease, which I believe MLS still has the ability to pull out of if certain benchmarks aren't met, and the hiring of the FO staff from Columbus that worked diligently to tank the operation for the last 2+ years, the rest is just blather.

    Finally some office space?

It's 2019 now. Fully funded academy team is where?

What's involved in the partnership with the ECNL team? Same as he "partnered" with the Crew girls club?

    Scholarships for youths? Where/who/how much?

ORGANIZED A SUPPORTERS GROUP? Your supporters group is FO organized? Are these paid positions? We did notice the plethora of chair positions still open, is AP not paying enough for his support?

C'mon man. This is a joke, right?

Everything but the lease and signed office space is conjecture or exaggeration on your part without some kind of announcement. No chance that just gets done under the table.

It's that kind of posting that got us to where we are now. You post unverifiable rumor, presented as fact, and just expect people to believe it. I can tell you from personal experience that just because AP says it doesn't mean anything. He actually got pissed when, a few months before he announced his attempted hijacking, a reporter had the gall to ask him about his commitment to Columbus.

i will not make a peep about anything that you state as an accomplishment by AP if there is some way to verify it other than just the words out of his, or his staff's, mouth.

If that is too big a hurdle, maybe you should just back off your hopeful posts until there are shovels in the ground? Or kids playing for free in your club's kit?

You have never asked for the announcement until just now. you wont look for these yourself either, you will just continue to run your mouth about "what PSV wont do", and get yourself progressively banned from forums until all you can comment in is the Columbus forum.

I came here to help you, and gave you some advice about how to interact. it seems as though you do not need or want my help.
