Zelalem is unique. He played on 2 U-20 teams and 1 Olympic team. And played poorly on all 3.
He got hurt in like the first 10 minutes of the first game for the second u20 squad... so really he was only poor in 2/3
If this current ‘00 class keeps growing and establishing themselves at their clubs, they may create a log jam on the senior team where there isn’t room for the up and coming stars like Leyva, Reyna, Busio, whoever. That’s a good problem to have and should be the overall goal.
It would also mean that more of these players end up with the u20s
