Pablo Mastroeni stops by the MLS Extratime studios and gives a pretty nice interview: https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019/10/10/extratime-usmnt-jump-nations-league-pablo-mastroeni-checks He doesn't get on the show til about 39:15 into it, but I certainly enjoyed it. You have to get past the backup hosts fawning all over him and what not, but it's a good listen. The two are regular commentators on the show, but not the usual hosts/interviewers. As far as Pablo goes, it definitely sounds like he owns up to the mistake of trading Cronin and Burch - and it also sounds like his overall coaching philosophy has grown quite a bit too. I wonder if he'll ever grab a coaching job again. He definitely had troubles with his tactics. Just thinking out loud, wonder if he would want to come in and be an assistant with Robin Fraser. I think that would potentially be a cool setup. Let Fraser do the tactics and what not, and have Pablo instill some bite and some emotion in training. I don't know if he'd want to do that since he's already been a head coach. Plus his wife wouldn't let him regrow the Pablo-stache ..... the sidelines just haven't been the same since then!
I don't think he and Padraig really got along well so I doubt he'd be willing to come back until a change in FO leadership.
Enzo Martinez started alongside Niki Jackson tonight for Charlotte in their 2-1 win over Memphis. Martinez provided the assist for Jackson's 77th minute game winning goal. He's still rocking the (in my opinion) terrible man-bun beard combo.
https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...-plan-be-proactive-across-country-find-talent Former 'Pid Jamie Smith has been charged with leading and directing Nashville SC's youth academy. A fully-funded youth program at that. Good for Jamie!
Hunter Freeman is now FC Cinci's Director of Player Scouting and Recruitment https://www.fccincinnati.com/post/2...irector-luke-sassano-step-down-family-reasons
Paul Bravo out as coach of the Oakland Roots after a winless fall season. Still working as youth director at a couple of Bay Area clubs: https://blog.sfgate.com/soccer/2019/10/31/oakland-roots-and-head-coach-paul-bravo-part-ways/
Pareja is reportedly the leading candidate to take over Orlando City. Not a bad move if they can pull it off. His tenure at Club TJ has been average. Nothing special despite leading them to a playoff spot. It's be a revolving door at Club TJ so maybe Pareja is looking to bounce.
Pablo is getting back into coaching and joining Tab Ramos in Houston #Rapids96 https://t.co/PhY3AGXkqh pic.twitter.com/j5rzuFRnsa— Burgundy Wave (@Burgundywave) November 4, 2019
I think the Tab-Pablo relationship will be good to all. Pablo assists Tab on what it's like being an MLS head coach and all it nuances and Tab provides some tactical nuances that Pablo sometimes lacks.
Have the Rapids been paying him since Pádraig sacked him? Or did his contract run out sometime in the lat few seasons. Assuming he was still being payed by the Rapids, I would assume that his hire as a Dynamo assistant means they are no longer on the hook. Now if someone will take Hudson on as an assistant.
He signed a 3 year deal before the 2017 season, so his contact essentially ended when the Rapids season did this year.
https://www.uslchampionship.com/news_article/show/1062592 Former fan favorite, Matt Pickens was named to the Best XI for the 2019 USL Championship season. Could we see a return to MLS for Pickens next season with Nashville? He's aged a little but certainly has looked MLS worthy for both the Rowdies and Nashville in the USL. He will turn 38 at the beginning of next season. it will be interesting to see what Smith does with the GK situation at Nashville.
It will be interesting to see what Smith will do period. Expansion, as FCC found out this season, is full of challenges.
Marlon Hairston is going to Minnesota as part of the deal that sent Darwin Quintero to Houston. I'm pretty happy for him-- and it's cool that one of my favorite former Rapids is now joining my second-favorite team.
Joe Greenspan and Matt Pickens have been nominated for Defender and GK of the Year in the USL Championship.
Tim Hinchey in the news for all the wrong reasons https://www.swimmingworldmagazine.c...-confidence-over-gap-in-anti-abuse-testimony/
Pathetic Youth sports leaders have a tremendous responsibility to the athletes. Having been one, I know it was foremost in my mind. He deserves to be tossed.
Shane O'Neill and Dillon Powers options declined by Orlando City. https://www.orlandocitysc.com/post/...sc-announces-2019-end-season-roster-decisions
Damn, yes, pathetic. Esp. as the gymnastics abuse was coming out, every organization with kids should have been reviewing all of that.
Pareja was just fired by Tijuana and is expected to be announced as Orlando City's coach in the near future. Hopefully we get OCSC at home next season.
