Can't stick in MLS as a centerback, yet started two games with the Rapids as a fullback. I can't believe the fullbacks we've had to put up with. If Castillo plays wingback as one would expect him to, fans are going to be saying, "what is that guy doing going up and down the touchline? Isn't he supposed to be standing in one place?"

I'm going to miss Wingert. I always thought he was one of the really steady, solid players that was a joy to watch. I'll always wonder how the Rapids would have fared if he had played his career on our side of the hump, rather than RSL-land.

Went to the Swithbacks season opener. The Switchbacks won 2-0 over Los Dos (LAG 2). Stew Ceus had a shut out but also had a couple of spills.

I really liked Wynne, and enjoyed meeting him. I think he'll go on to do good things, he seemed like an upbeat and smart guy. I hope he's happy and healthy. He's well known for his affection for cats so at one of the old season ticket parties (at the Toby Keith's, I think), my wife and I pulled out our phones to show him pictures of our cat, and he didn't even act like it was weird. We probably won't have that interaction again with a pro athlete.

Gaby Torres was included in the final 23-man roster for Panama it was annouced today. Great news for Gaby and I couldn't be happier for him. I wish we could have seen more consistency from Gaby while here but he's found his footing, rebounded, and had a great couple of seasons starting in Venezuela, then Switzerland, and now Chile with Huachipato. He has been used as a super-sub for Panama so I suspect we will see him in that same role in Russia.

Plymouth's Josh Gatt refocuses on soccer career after wife's cancer ordeal https://www.detroitnews.com/story/s...r-career-after-wifes-cancer-ordeal/692321002/
Jeebus, what an ordeal. The initial diagnosis was wrong (for a different cancer) and terminal. And sorry to venture towards political grounds but it is insane that our health care is tied to our jobs:
Although there are efforts to train us differently I don't believe it should be considered 'political' to state a fact.
