Let's not get too carried away here - Beckerman is now stuck playing for Fake Salt Lake, Noel played in the USL and is hoping to catch on with an expansion club, and Cletus has to go to Greece to find someone willing to pay him big $. Not all necessarily better.
I wouldn't call it getting carried away - look at the list of former Rapids, how successful have those not under the Clavijo regime been? It's not like we're producing Champions' League-rs here, but most former Rapids have gone on to rather anonymous careers post-Rapids, except for Clavijo's players. It's all about how low the bar has been set
I noticed on MLSNet that Nat Borchers got in at the 60 minute mark today for RSL in their loss to Lynn University.
Total misclaim, IMHO. Cunningham did a great job for FSL. Kreis got the reins and he and the ex-Rapids-pimp-boy Cunningham didn't exactly see eye to eye. After being shipped to Toronto he picked up an injury that did him in. IIRC Cunninham did more during his short playing time last year just for TFC than Casey did all season for both clubs he was with.
Who was comparing Cunningham and Casey, not me. But since you brought it up: 2007 Casey 2 goals, 3 assists in 977 minutes Jeff C 3 goals, 1 assist in 1034 minutes As for Jeff with RSL, he led them to what place in the standings?
Chris Henderson still cares for Denver. (And has a residence?) "Of all the stops in your career, next to Seattle where did you feel most at home? Denver. I met my wife there in ’96, our first son was born there and we still have a residence there. The best team I played for was in Miami in 2001, but next to Seattle Denver is where I felt most at home, and there are a lot of similarities in the lifestyle in Colorado and Washington." And I wish I could find the picture of Patrick Roy poke-checking Dino Ciccarelli back in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Either way, there's an unpleasing theme to Colorado sports.
This makes me tear up every time I watch it.... Sorry back to topic....
http://www.sltrib.com/realsaltlake/ci_8446385 Real Salt Lake released veteran defenders Ritchie Kotschau and Chris Lancos on Monday - along with striker Kyle Brown and midfielder Duke Hashimoto - as it moved to reach the limit of 28 players by the Major League Soccer roster deadline.
http://web.mlsnet.com/news/mls_news.jsp?ymd=20080315&content_id=143409&vkey=news_mls&fext=.jsp Former Colorado Rapids forward Fabrice Noel opted to spend time with the Haitian under-23 national team rather than continue his Quakes tryout, although Yallop hinted that the door was still open, however so slightly. "[Noel] needed a bit of a quicker answer from us," said Yallop. "He wanted to know [yes or no], and I said 'At this point, it's a no.' But I know all about him, and I like his traits. I told him to go do his thing and we'll keep tabs on him."
