Ronaldo humiliating Guardiola and Mourinho... https://t.co/ZuWCBbXcl7— 90s Football (@90sfootball) November 29, 2018
Alcacer came on in the 70th minute and scored in extra time, he now has scored 10 times for Dortmund in Bundesliga while playing less than 300 minutes! Here are the first 9:
So after 35 minutes Andre Gomes has been the clear man of the match so far against Liverpool in this heated derby game !!
Stupid clueless Valverde had to get rid of Gomes, NOW of all times when we could use him. Incredible.
Two former team mates went head to head as coaches. Gio van Bronckhorst and Mark van Bommel had a clash sunday in Rotterdam, Feyenoord 2-1 PSV.
Not discrediting or downplaying Paco, but for whatever reason Dortmund seems to be quite the factory for goal scoring. Lewa...Auba...they even managed to make Batshuayi look good for half a season last year, now it's Paco.
They do seem to score more goals than the average club and if that is correct it ups goals and assists numbers for their players, which may make them seem more prolific than they really are. That said Paco did well on a per minute basis at Barca, but not nearly 10 goals in under 300 minutes good.
Gio joined Feyenoord youth academy at 7, left after 103 first team appearances for Rangers, then Arsenal, then Barcelona. Had a clause in his Barca contract which allowed him to leave for Feyenoord for free, which he activated with a year left on his Barca contract. He played 88 more matches for the first team 2007-2010 when he retired from playing. He immediately was U21 Netherlands assistant coach for 1 season, then assistant coach at Feyenoord for 4 years, and head coach since 2015. Under him they won the league once and the cup twice, results they had not seen in a long time.
I didn't necessarily mean to say that they make players better than they are (I too think Paco was more than respectable here), just more admiration at how as an organization they're able to juggle a constantly changing lineup of forwards, and managers and still retain a respectable amount of competitiveness in a top league almost every year.
And the Johan Cruijff Shield at the start of the season as the cup winner against champion PSV. Knvb Bekerwinnaar Feyenoord wint Johan Cruijff Schaal | KNVB
Only found out just now that ex-president Josep Lluís Núñez passed away on Monday. A very significant person in the club's history: 22 years as president (!) His most significant moment came in 1988 when, after surviving a players coup, he sold many of those who were against him and managed to lure Cruyff from Ajax to manage the new and up-and-coming group of players. Expectations haven't been the same since.
Nice to see you again @andresiniesta8 😍! Barcelona will always be your home 🏡 pic.twitter.com/dTnlXUq7xQ— FC Barcelona (@FCBarcelona) December 10, 2018
Digne scored a Messi-like left footed free kick to rescue a draw for Everton v. Watford in an ex-Barca fest (Mina, Gomes, Digne all played the full game for Everton, plus Deulofeu subbed on for Watford). Video highlights embedded: http://www.espn.com/soccer/match?gameId=513688
Yaya Toure has left Olympiakos by mutual consent. He's reportedly hoping for a return to the Premier League.
I read that he only played in 5 games for them, maybe he is past it / lost a step but still thinks he is the man?
Paco Alcacer has become the first player in the history of the Bundesliga to score 10 goals as a substitute in a single season , and he did it only in 16 matches https://www.goal.com/en/news/paco-a...-record-in-just-16/1oihxrdpyt48j1l74bfc0ibloe
Plus 2 more as a starter, for 12 total to lead the entire league in scoring despite playing less than half as many minutes as any of the other contenders like Lewa.
I could easily put this in the transfer thread as the bottom third of it Onana (Ajax starting keeper, just 22, from La Masia) talks about talking to de Ligt and De Jong about Barca, but I think it is good here, especially as they ask him about all the other Cameroonian players who came to La Masia too: Kaptoum, Dongou, Etock, Bagnack, Ondoa… Of all the players from Cameroon who moved to Barça, you're doing the best. That's an honour, but you never know in football. You don't know what could happen tomorrow and we're all fighting to take that step forward. I believe, with time and a little luck, we will all take it. But I'm doing well here, I am happy to be playing for this great club. https://www.sport-english.com/en/ne...de-ligt-have-asked-me-about-barcelona-7209533
Onana to De Ligt and De Jong: 'You're going to like it there.' sounds like he knows something we don't.
