my original reflection was whether perquis (and obraniak) should really be considered polish, if other criteria might be moregermain than the NT they play for. but then mon pauvre! the spaghetti the africa section would become! and it's clearly a lot of work as it is!
4 "all-star teams" for Sportboy South America: ----------Lisandro Nenê------------------Bastos -------Estrada-Pastore ----------Sanchez Mareque-Hilton-Lugano-Ceara -----------Ospina Europe: ----------Ben Sahar Hazard------------------Jelen ------Källström-Obraniak -----------Poulsen Dudka-Basa-Lovren-Azpilicueta ------------Lopes Africa: ----------------Maïga Pitroipa------------------------Boudebouz ------------A. Thanks but I dont know how you can make these teams now when the season just started. Joe Cole, Erding or Umut Bulut could have a good season and make the all Europe team for example. You'll definately need to update these teams at the midway point and at the end of the year. I noticed Europe's central defense is very strong because Bisevac got left out but their goalie situation is really weak and also and M'Bia didnt even make Africa's central pairing. Lucho could make the South American team if he has a "comeback" season. For all the Africans around, that team doesnt look too strong and I think any of the other 3 teams could beat it.
anyone else find ochoa's move baffling? I mean here is the no.1 pretty much undisputed Mexican GK going to a division traveler with a sub par defense, anyone know how much money they lured him in with?
He actually took a 50% paycut from his previous team in Mexico to join Ajaccio (and part of his salary is covered by his old clubs owner), their annual budget is only 16M euro (compared to 150M for lyon). Basically the story goes Ochoa desperately wanted to go to europe, several clubs like PSG, Olympiakos and a few others were interested, then the doping scandal at the gold cup hits and all the clubs withdraws their interest except Ajaccio who sees an opportunity for a big transfer coup. The owners of his Mexican club (Televisa) owns the tv rights for Ligue 1 in Mexico and sees an opportunity to increase the value of their tv rights and helps facilitates the deal. The doping scandal clears up and Ajaccio hit the jackpot and Ochoa says he's proud to sign with the team that backed him all the way. I expect him to be gone next season though.
oh that's right the doping scandal....thanks for all the info even if Ajaccio was lets say in the top 8 would you still think he would be sold?
Top 8? Maybe not, but right now they have 1 win in 14 league games and I don't think they have the money to make any signings in January so I think that's really mission impossible. I think the best case scenario is if they somehow manage to improve their home form and survive in ligue 1 with a point or two's marginal and even that would really surprise me. He does have a three year contract and said he likes the city but both him and Ajaccio has said that the current deal is a stepping stone to go to larger teams in France or Europe so I think if they get offers after the season they'll probably sell him.
I totally agree. But with the actual economic crisis it's hard to guess where Ochoa could go. To say that Ospina, for instance, COULD leave last summer, Nice had already his successor (Raul Fernandez), but... nobody wanted him. A possibility is that he joins a Spanish club with a deal with Televisa. Spanish TV rights are negociated club by club in Spain and there are Primera Division clubs poorer than some equivalent French clubs.
spian is the obvious destination; any anyplace there would be a step up from ajaccio, which has infrastructure barely worthy of french L2.
