No being sarcastic. Just a busy morning and didn't have time to expand my thoughts.

He's staying. Barca can't afford him right now.

Course we can , money isn't the problem...

We had enough cash to get Verratti and that's before we got all the Neymar cash PLUS the board have said we can dip into next season's fund as well ...

    keita deal done:

    https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ita-rb-leipzig-next-summer-klopp-lemar-monaco

Liverpool have agreed a club record deal to sign Naby Keïta from RB Leipzig next summer and are also interested in prising Thomas Lemar from Monaco before the transfer deadline on Thursday.
Keïta, Jürgen Klopp’s prime midfield target for this summer, underwent a medical in England on Monday after Liverpool finally reached agreement with Leipzig over the terms of his transfer. Liverpool are to activate the £48m release clause in the midfielder’s contract – a clause that comes into effect at the end of this season – and will pay a premium to secure the deal now.

Barcelona have been among the rival clubs linked with the Guinea international and Liverpool have moved to ensure Klopp will get his man. Leipzig have refused to consider selling Keïta in this window but have accepted a deal that will allow them to retain the player for their debut Champions League season while earning more than his eventual release clause.

The 22-year-old, who had a medical in Wilmslow on Monday and is expected to finalise the move at Melwood, will officially become a Liverpool player on 1 July 2018.

Liverpool are keen to add Lemar to their squad in this window, although they are yet to make a bid for the 21-year-old. Arsenal have been long-term admirers of the France international but have been informed by Monaco that he is not for sale. That stance may remain unchanged in the face of Liverpool’s interest but the club are expected to test Monaco’s resolve with a club-record offer worth around £60m, with the possibility of Divock Origi heading the other way.

klopp must really really really like this guy. unusual to sign someone a year in advance - could be a master stroke?

Maybe it's part of his telling Coutinho he can go next year.

We signed Origi a year in advanced.

Liverpool rates Keita so highly that they feared if we did not lock him up now, we would be competing with the likes of Bayern and Barca to sign him next summer.

LOL. They couldn't afford a lump sum 4m for Asensio last summer... They wanted Phil on a 16m/yr payment plan.

I got better things to do. Barcelona will be made to go fvck themselves this time, because Liverpool don't need the cash and Coutinho, whether he likes it or not, needs the World Cup starting 11 berth. It is a delightful thing to see.....

But Keita, the bid for Lemar, the still developing thing with VVD... kind of suggests they are taking the Coutinho money.

But they did reiterate their stance. We will see.

I think this is now the third time we've done this in the last few years... Origi, Grujic, and now Keita. Let's hope that premium wasn't too large! I'd be disappointed if we didn't get some discount for not getting him right away this year.

And effectively no different from signing a player and loaning him back for a year (eg Grujic).

Keita/VVD were in the plans before the coutinho business. I doubt big money is due to RBL this summer, so that Keita money is available now. If 35m is the price for Ox, I assume we pass on that, sell Origi to Monoco, and use the Ox/keita/Origi money to fund Lemar.

we signed Origi outright but loaned him back for a year, as we did with Grujik. not exactly the same thing but same effect of course.

oops - just saw delay's post saying the same thing.

    Hope you're right!

Do have to wonder if VVD would even happen. If it does this would be a great window, event without Lemar.

I think the club wants him to sign - but he's the one delaying for some odd reason.

    agree 100%.
when he left the pitch being subbed yesterday he had an odd expression on his face ... no smile with the boss, no "why take me off, I played great" annoyance .... just sort of a resigned expression. I hope to hell he signs and does it soon but it looks ominous, it's dragged on for way too long.
