Hello Irish Football Fans, I have a friend traveling to Ireland May 1-9 and he asked me to turn him on to a club he should try to see live. I have absolutely no idea where to send him. It looks like the league is in play at that time but I don't really know. What advice should I give him? Thanks! VicariousYank
Only one choice really! Tell him to make his way to Tallaght Stadium to see Ireland's biggest club and current Champions Shamrock Rovers. Fixture list here: http://www.shamrockrovers.ie/matchdays/fixture-list If he has any queries nearer the time send me a PM. KOH
Booo - check out UCD at the Bowl. It's a great place to see a match, especially if you don't like crowds.
Unless he's a football fanatic I wouldn't encourage a tourist to spend their time and effort going to a league of Ireland game and I support a team in that league. I would encourage him to go and watch Gaelic Football and Hurling though. For a tourist it would be more worthwhile.
In that regard, Rugby is also a great option. I went to a Leinster match at the RDS and had a great time.
