Right now this is a place-holder thread for ideas about creating a family-friendly (or kid-friendly) supporters group. I've got some ideas for this, but I'd like to hear more. However, I'm working at the moment. Anyway, if anyone has any other ideas, please throw them in here. I'd like to sit along the sidelines (I'm sure I've mentioned 208 about 1000 times) and create an enthusiastic supporters atmosphere that is also family friendly. HOWEVER, I will insist that there be none of those lame-ass "No Alcohol" rules like there are at Safeco. I love beer, beer is beautiful (even if it does suck ass at Qwest). I'll add more in later as time allows.

I actually just ran this by my wife and she loved the whole idea. Definitely a no beer section would suck. It's how we keep my sanity when we bring the kids to public places.

What about 109, a little closer to the action, kids could talk with the players and get all the autographs they want with out bothering people? It might be the wrong place since they could get the most amount of money in these seats. We'll have to look into this and find out what Bart has in mind.

    :D

That's why I got a vasectomy -- to make sure that even WITH beer I'd not become a parent!

Flying monkeys...Any relation to the scooter club?

As a parent myself this sounds like a cool idea. And yes please on the beer!

No relation to the scooter club at all, and wouldn't want to piss anyone off, and would be open to changing the name if that would be the end result.

For what it's worth, and if anyone is interested, the Flying Monkeys are now centered in Section 149.

Again, I really dig the angry monkey. I still think he needs a cigar, however.

Has any other sport actually had a successful SG geared toward families?

I don't see anything wrong with it, to tell you the truth. It's a lot better than no organization. From what I understand they are willing to work with ECS and other groups, so I think it's a win-win.

There's going to be plenty of representation for the non-family friendly supporters in the south end :D

Don't see anything wrong with the monkeys, let 'em have their north end home.

An aggro organ grinder might be needed for that logo though ;)

You're right. Why in the hell would we want a supporters group that people (your average Seattleite) are comfortable having their kids hang with? It's insanity, I tell you. Insanity.

Looks like DC is trying to steal your supporter group name. :D

As a DC fan I have to say WTF were they thinking.

I just have to ask... why did they feel it was necessary to include "city, Missouri" ?

Because up until this season, that's where the Wiz played, at Arrowhead Stadium, which is in Kansas City, Missouri, as opposed to Kansas City, Kansas, which is on the other side of the Red River.

Right I get the double KC thing; only the game is at DC so it seemed slightly moot and the "fine print" only seemed to point out the failure of attempting to morph Missouri into Kansas. It reads to me like a glaring admission...
"So we thought we were being clever, but we know there's inconsistencies and we didn't want you all to think we're completely ignorant ... but we still kinda thing its clever. Are you convinced yet? I swear we're clever, we just couldn't come up with anything better."

I'm getting way OT, but I guess if I was marketing something and going for kitschy I wouldn't worry about small details like state borders.
