Taken from Devo's Direct Kicks Blog - January 6, 2011. The WPS announced its schedule for its first two weekends and the Western New York Flash, will play the Boston Breakers at Harvard Stadium on Sunday, April 17. The Flash’s first-ever match will be televised nationally on Fox Soccer Channel. The WPS season opener is Saturday, April 9 when Boston plays at Atlanta. The full WPS schedule, including the Flash’s nine home matches is scheduled to be released next month. LB: Was hoping that their first match would be at home and not liking that Boston gets an early advantage of already playing a real match. Guess the Flash didn't want the pressure of opening at home and also the weather isn't all that great here in WNY come early/mid April so if they do what their roommates (Rhinos) usually do - expect the Flash to play their first two or three matches on the road before playing a home match. Glad to see their opening game being on National TV. Wouldn't be surprise if the Flash have half of their matches on FSC. Aside from their opener - I expect their home opener and both matches against Abby and the Washington Freedom will also be on FSC. As for local TV - I expect Time Warner Cable Sportsnet (the local sports network which has channels in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany etc) will televise whatever matches that arn't on FSC - producing the home games themselves and picking up away coverage that the other teams produced. Unfortunately for fans outside of the TWCSN viewing area - TWCSN is only available via Time Warner in most of NYS and not available via satellite so you will have to hope one of the regional sports networks pickups coverage - if its a match vs Sky Blue FC - Sportsnet NY? MSG? MSG Plus? will have to pick it up. LB... UGH! Its 2011 not 2010! Can a mod edit the title of the thread and make it the correct year. The title of this thread should be - "Flash 2011 Schedule - TV Coverage" - Thanks.

Taken from the Rochester D&C Website - Friday, Feburary 18. WNY Flash to get national soccer exposure - Call it the Marta Factor. The Brazilian superstar and the Western New York Flash soccer team will play on national television eight times in its inaugural season, which starts April 17 at Harvard Stadium against the Boston Breakers. Rochester's first professional women's squad plays its home opener on Sunday, May 1 at 4 p.m. against the Atlanta Beat. Women's Pro Soccer released its schedule on Thursday and it includes nine home games for the Flash at newly named Sahlen's Stadium on Oak Street. "We're stoked. Eight games (on national TV), not bad, huh?" said Flash head coach Aaran Lines, the former Rochester Rhinos midfielder. The 6 p.m. season opener is on Fox Soccer Channel but the May 1 home opener isn't scheduled to be on national TV. However, the first of two matches against Pittsford native Abby Wambach and her Washington Freedom is. That one is Sunday, May 22. The second is July 20. A five-time FIFA World Player of the Year, Marta is the star attraction for the Flash and, largely, the league. But Wambach, 30, the U.S. women's national team star, is expected to bump ticket sales in her hometown. The largest crowd in league history is slightly more than 8,000. "We're happy with the schedule," said Lines, whose team starts training camp March 7 and will be based at Sahlen's Sports Park in Elma, near Buffalo. "It allows us to have our World Cup players on the field for most of our home games." The WPS will take a break from June 25 to July 4 because of the Women's World Cup in Germany. LB...
Apparently, local matches will be shown on Time Warner Cable Sportsnet. This information quietly appeared on the main WPS site in the last day or so, I believe. I think because this was a recent development, today's match will be on a tape-delay while the others will be broadcast live.
