Absolutely, lest he become another Stan Kroenke. Finish the EpiCenter! I won’t call it Avaya anymore, until it gets more sponsor $ from somewhere.
It's been quiet for nearly two months. The most recent post before yours was May 19. Fisher's still a problem, though.
Difference is - Davis put his money where his mouth is. Fisher’s still more of an investor than an owner, and he still doesn’t seem terribly ‘invested’ in the team, if you get my drift. Our current success will only last as long as MA does, and I am somewhat cynical regarding JF’s commitment to spend what it will take to keep him satisfied...
Yeah, it seems like now is the time to really build this organization. I don't think we need a big DP, we need to maximize our Almeyda. That means scouting, that means practice facilities, that means making sure everyone learns as much as they can so we have some hope of keeping it going when he leaves. We need to suck in all the young talent we can, using the draw of the chance to work with him. I don't want Fisher out, I want whoever the owner is to show they care about the product, while also developing the team in a sustainable way.
Or at the very least, say something about the state of team. If his statement is through Fioranelli and Almeyda and they produce results as they have been doing, I guess its ok if Fisher stays silent.
He probably doesn't but the fans do and we still have a thread for it. I'm still surprised it took 11 season to create this thread. Of course the owner is responsible for his club and he should take all of the blame! Mar 31, 2019 Looking at second and thrid year teams in LAFC & Atlanta winning over the Quakes is a disgrace. I have a feeling lowly Cincinatti will end up doing better than us in a year or so.....
Another owner speaks before Fisher..... United owner Bill McGuire talks money, stadium and the future of MLS
That happy little Minnesota girl rode her bike home singing from the Quakes game on July 3. That's gotta stop! 1146607497064718336 is not a valid tweet id
USA Saint is leaving for college, so unless one of us old people gets up and does something, it seems this thread is going nowhere, along with this team. I'm thinking i should really start going to Stanford or SJSU games and take my mind off how disappointing the Quakes are. Can't even make the playoffs 9 of 12 seasons, when what, 67-75% of the teams go to the playoffs? I mean, what's equivalent to what Fisher and team are selling? rotten cheese? 3 day old bread? Watered down beer? We're like a thrift store, a Goodwill that has run out of good will. I dunno the Quakes have historically hired amateurs and failures to run the club, so why should i care about the Quakes? sorry i must be in a bad mood this AM
I never thought I'd see pro soccer in SJ, then, in '96, we host the first game in the history of MLS, right in my backyard. then, after watching for several years, I thought we'd always be awful and, low and behold, we were the toast of the league from '01 to '05. then, after the Quakes left town at the end of '05 I was absolutely sure we would never see pro soccer in San Jose again. and then, 2008 rolls around and *boom* I have a home team to cheer for and complain about, once again! then, I had serious doubts about getting a stadium done, and there we were, 4000 of us, breaking ground and before long I'm sitting in my season seats and Alashe scores goal #1. So...I've been wrong before. As long as there's a team suiting up in Quakes blue, there's hope. it's really hard to see how this organization gets turned around with Fisher at the helm but I'd still take our crap team over no team...and I have to say, the soccer season is so much more fun having you and the rest of the folks around here to commiserate and celebrate with. cheers to you, and the rest of the fans for hanging in there. it was a roller coaster of a season, better than '18 for sure. go Quakes! lets see what 2020 will bring.
Agreed. Unfortunately, though, the team currently primarily suits up in black and has for most of the post-Golden Age. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Not to be a Fisher apologist, but he did agree to spend 1.4 million on two guys that have history with Almeyda in the summer transfer window. These two guys contributed a whopping one goal and zero assists while not playing very good defense either. These guys were not just dropped on the coach, he wanted them.
