Formation? The Fire don't need no stickin' formation. To be honest, I missed the beginning and cannot figure out the formation. I have rewound and it appears to be: Ousted Bornstein Lillard Marcelo Kappelhoff Bronico Azira Katai Mihailovic Frankowski Nikolic The "official" pregame line-up on the Fire website was wrong.
This would be my starting 11. --------Niko-----------------Sapong------- --Katai------Milhailovic--Frankowski-- -------------------Azira---------------------- --Borestein--Calvo-Lillard/Marcelo--Kapp-- ---------------------Ousted------------------------ 1.Those are our best players in the 18 man game day roster, I picked Azira because defensive midfielder position is his natural position and I don't think Bronico isn't very good. 2.Nobody is playing out of position.
I know that it was a bit of "addition by subtraction" getting rid of Corrales, but why did the Fire dump Mo Adams and then trade for Azira? Admittedly, it has only been 27 minutes, but I have seen nothing from Azira that would indicate he was any better than Mo Adams. Oh, year, the Fire received yummy GAM/TAM in both trades.
Gahd, ******** this stupid ********ing team and ******** me again for getting excited for no reason. Also, ******** Portland with a pitchfork - their IPAs suck, their bearded hipsters suck, their Voodoo donuts that I've never had are probably overrated, and oh, yeah, the city is also home to a not insignificant number of Proud Boys and other racist shitheads to an extent that most other major cities wouldn't allow. Seattle is way better than Portland, the worst thing they've ever done is Macklemore. (PS - I've never been to nor do I even give half of a shit about either city but just extra******** Portland again for this game right now)
Stupid high forearm by Katai, but not red card worthy at all. Bring in Gaitan immediately. Oh, wait, Paunovic did not bother to have him travel to Portland.
A high forearm as he was running up against a player. A harsh red card, but smacks to the head are taken awfully seriously these days.
Just wait until Nikolic goes down with a hamstring, since he is just about the only player on the Fire actually, well, playing.
Azira with a nice shot off from a Mihailovic pass. If the Fire have any shot (and they don't), Frankowski and Mihailovic must own this game.
If the ref isn’t going to give a yellow to the guy grabbing you by the shoulder then you have to be able to shrug them off.
Was he getting fouled on the play. I remember when Peter Nowak would get re card like that, players can't keep up with him so they hold/tug on him and he would try to free himself and hit the player and would get red carded.
This kind of shit would happen to Peter Nowak all the time, holding player get nothing and Peter gets red carded.
Patrick Doody is pretty much fellating every young American play. He has heaped praise on Bronico and Lillard, despite neither doing crap, except being at least partially responsible for the first goal and, just now, giving up a corner. He is a ridiculous homer. We really do not need this, at all. We need a bit of objective commentary, Patrick. I guess he is just doing his "doody" next to Danhole Kelly. It is difficult for me to think that I "miss" Klopas behind the mic. I don't, but I am thinking about it.
Yes I agree and said it was not at all red card worthy. However, Katai should not have done it. Throwing an elbow or forearm always runs a major risk. Leagues are getting super serious about head injuries (and rightly so). Of course, Katai was nowhere near committing any sort of injury to the other player.
Oh, man, Skippy the wonder slug on commentary just stated that he was "impressed" by the Fire since going down a man. Just shut up, kid.
Paunovic: “We’re not giving up... I have seen miracles in soccer.” Yes, that’s what it would take to get you fired. Speaking of which, how many goals against tonight would it take for him to get canned?
