Start the rebuild - fire the FO (or let Klein run the operation side only). Go hire Guillermo Schelotto from Boca Juniors (rumours are he wants to come to MLS). Let him bring in young Argentinian DP's. How hard is this?

Berhalter looks destined for the National team, but if not, we should do all we can to get him.

Someone should make mention of this at Alpine Village.

While I'm glad Sigi is gone, I'm worried this means Sigi lost the power struggle with Klein/Pete. They are the ones that really needed to go. The FO needs to be cleaned out. I do not trust them with another coaching hire and more bad player signings. AG ownership really needs to step it up to keep this team competitive in what has been a new MLS era these last two years.

    That makes too much sense.

    It’s also a total Klein/Vagenas move.

Our FO could do a lot worse than Berhalter. He knows defense, the league and is a players coach. I'll take him happily.

Klein is claiming there was no power struggle because Sigi had full authority. My guess is that if there is some truth to that statement, it is in the sense that the new guys brought in this year (with the possible exception of Zlatan) were all chosen and approved by Sigi. It likely doesn't mean he could have cut players with guaranteed contracts, for example.

Yes. I've got this going on in the back of my head too. If we're operating under the assumption that he stepped down of his own accord, the timing of this leads me to believe there is a lot more going on behind that scenes that we aren't yet seeing that may have predicated this decision.

Sigi may very well be past his sell by date, but I find it very hard to believe he'd just give up before it's all said and done unless there is something particularly messy going on.

Today when the team is in the dumpster and the FO's performance is being rightly questioned:

"Sigi had full authority" -Chris Klein

Back in late July when team was looking up:

“There are pieces of this where you wouldn’t look and say, ‘Oh wow, that fits your standard [formation],’” Klein said. “Yeah, these don’t fit exactly. … [but] is it an embarrassment of riches, or is it too much loaded in one position? I think that’s what Sigi has to figure out.”

From the outside, it looked like LA wasn’t quite sure how it wanted to build the squad.

While Schmid has final say on the roster, scouting and identifying players is “a collaborative process,” according to Klein. And when it comes to Designated Players like Ibrahimovic, he said, “there are times when I’ll get involved, where [AEG President] Dan Beckerman will get involved, and where [Galaxy owner] Phil Anschutz will get involved.” -Chris Klein

What conniving little SOBs. The Dos Santos brothers are the teams biggest problems and they are not Sigi's responsibility.

Nice sleuthing. Hopefully, someone calls Klein out on this.

Berhalter is definitely the good, safe choice. Maybe not the best, but very safe.

The best thing that could happen for this franchise is for a journalist to get Sigi Shmidt to the Alpine Village tonight, buy him a few beers and for Sigi to explain how things really are inside the FO and team. A little sunlight would disinfect a lot of this garbage.

Come on Sigi. Do it for the fans!

If this is true then next year will have us score tons of goals but end up like this year and then 2020 we go the mls cup but lose to somebody like Atlanta. Maybe we can fast forward through the insanity by hoping that Dom is somehow a weird combo of Rudd and Yallop So maybe 2019 will begin the 2nd coming of the Arena type years when we ruled the universe.
