I was happy while he was there, because it meant he wasn't managing in a league I cared about and if I wanted a break from him I could easily get it.
Serious in that I think he's a world-class manager and it would be worth it for the press conferences alone. Not serious in that DC United/MLS can't afford him and I doubt he'd come if they could.
I'm reasonably confident I won't have to see him in Germany. I suspect he'll head back to Spain or Italy; the former of which is a problem for you.
Maybe it'd be worth it to non-DCU fans. Having him get up in front of folks and do his sickening thing while officially representing a club I cared about would be awful. Just awful. I would look at those responsible for making such a decision and say "if you hated me so much, why didn't you just burn down my house?"
He reminds me a bit of Larry Brown, who became famous for jumping head coaching jobs in college or pro basketball every three years. Larry Brown with a toxic personality, that is. Hope he's been salting away part of his salary because he's going to start running out of choice assignments one of these days.
I’d be amused by his reaction to learning the Calvinball rules of the league and how transfers happen over here etc. the “what is this shit?” looks would be great. its be a epic disaster. “What do you mean I can’t spend that much?” “Why would I be limited from signing more players?” “Why for my smallest toenail have more soccer knowledge than half my players?” He’d be a egotistical disaster in this league. I hope NYCFC goes for him.
Today on The Football Show (Sirius XM channel 157), they were discussing Jose's "next move." Ray Hudson purred: "What a'boot Inter Miami? Kinn-ya imagin' datt?" The day before, Phil Schoen pointed out that Mourinho has a long history of only staying in one place for 3 years or so before wearing out his welcome and moving on. And, while he's there, he never gives a whit about developing a club's academy. So I say: Jose, Harrison NJ is thataway . . .
Like I said earlier, you really have to wonder how many big paydays Mourinho has left. How many major European club are left that would trust Mourinho enough to sign him up? His smart move now would probably be to sit out of the coaching racket for a few years and try to become a television commentator/personality. Maybe, his next best move would be to sign with a Korean, Japanese, Chinese or North American club for three years and cash in while the getting's still good.
It's all theater to Hudson. It's been months since I've watched "The Locker Room" and I really don't miss him.
I'd be happy to see him in MLS. Good pub for the league and the mayhem that surrounds him is great theater. But I would not want to see him lead my club.
Exactly, I don't like him enough to want him leading DC United. But I don't hate him enough to NOT wish him on various rivals in the league, because the show would be pure laughs.
Also he works on a 3 year plan basis so even if he is successful it will only be temporary. The last thing I want for any MLS team other than DC United is sustained success.
Schelotto is going to tear it up for LA Galaxy. I wish he could have somehow been the DCU coach. https://www.dailynews.com/2019/01/02/galaxy-names-guillermo-barros-schelotto-as-new-coach/
Hard to figure out what thread this goes in, but this works as good as any. Ben Olsen's contract has been extended through the 2021 season.

Manager for life! It's interesting that someone like Chad Ashton is never considered for other jobs, as long as he's been doing it. I would love to see him replaced, nothing personal. Call Brian Carroll. Just a hunch.
