Actually, we bet a 12 pack of Great Lakes on it but both of us are too lazy to do the actual research.
Yes but there's a reason. hang can whine about " marketable stars" all he wants but in all.of.MLS how many are there? Rooney? Ibra maybe, but how many people outside.soccwr circles.know who.he is? How many extra eyeballs.does.he bring to the viewership? Hey barkeep, can you put the Galaxy game on the big screen" isn't a phrase you'll hear too much anywhere across the fruited plain. If one person in 10,000 can name one person on Atlantas roster I'd be stunned. Even.one in 100,000 is a.stretch. Its.full stadiums and colorful crowd action MLS wants on TV. Nobody gives a shit about the quality of.the soccer or which foreign goober they never heard.of is kicking the ball. They just want people to see massive engaged stadiums. All the rest is crap
Yeah. Columbus rarely if ever has an engaged fan base or a full stadium. Why on earth would a league with less ratings than bowling put Columbus on a national broadcast and show this to the world. More than that....why on earth is a coach in the midst of a 5 game losing streak whining about this? It’s ridiculous. It’s embarrassing. It’s a sign of a coach who has no idea how to explain his teams disastrous displays.
Saw the highlights - was away for the weekend. I would prefer Mr. Porter not be the coach come July, but if we have to endure the end of the season, fine.
Guys, I don't know about you....but the 87th minute subs really impressed me. It's almost as if it took Porter 87 minutes to realize that whatever the hell he was telling the team to do wasn't working. Recognition is the first step. Luckily he has five years to learn on the job. Our coach is a ********in moron.
Have to admit that was an odd bit of coaching. We were out of synch all night. It was one of those games where I wasn't sure what we were trying to do.
Your far too infrequent Hang Ambition Ranking Coaching Hires Update: We've played roughly 41.2% of our season now. De Boer: Games: 12 Points: 20 PPG: 1.67 GF: 13 GA: 9 GD: 4 Conference Position: 4 SS Position: 8 Almeyda: Games: 12 Points: 14 PPG: 1.17 GF: 18 GA: 23 GD: -5 Conference Position: 8 SS Position: 18 Savarese: Games: 11 Points: 11 PPG: 1.00 GF: 14 GA: 22 GD: -8 Conference Position: 10 SS Position: 21 Schelotto: Games: 13 Points: 22 PPG: 1.69 GF: 18 GA: 17 GD: 1 Conference Position: 4 SS Position: 6 Porter: Games: 14 Points: 16 PPG: 1.14 GF: 12 GA: 19 GD: -7 Conference Position: 8 SS Position: 15 Ambition is definitely fading. We've played more games than any other Ambition Champion nominee and June doesn't look to do us any favors either with as many as 5 players potentially missing significant time for Gold Cup. De Boer has seemed to finally get his ambition transmission in gear in Atlanta and has made several strides despite losing on a weak ass goal to a 10 man MetroStars team. . GBS' ambition has taken several blows recently and with Zlatan's two game suspension for doing is best Kane impression on Sean Johnson, his ambition will be tested even further over the coming weeks. Almeyda's ambition seems to be confused as to whether it wants to be ambitious or not though recent form shows more non losses than losses. Savarese's ambition just wants to play a home game at this point. And that day is coming soon. Look for a big jump in his ambition shortly. I'm looking forward to the MLSPU salary details being released shortly. It'll be interesting to see if there's a correlation between $ spent and coaching ambition.
I appreciate you continuing to make this updates, as Porter's stock continues to fall like a rock, even as you seem to not fully grasp what "ambition" is. Baby steps, though.
All Porter needs is a striker of Finlay's ability... Personally, I am waiting for mid-June to make my mind up. Going very deep into the USOC and barely squeaking into the post-season is still a good thing IMO.
I get why some of you feel this way, but you're pissing up a tree. There's no way in hell Porter gets fired this year. Zero. Accept he's here until at least mid next season, and even then he's probably still got job security. Maybe once Bez builds what ownership believes to be a strong Cup contender and results are still bad, maybe, but still probably not. We're riding the Porter express until the stadium opens at a minimum. It's easier if you just accept it. I'm not saying you have to like it, but it's easier.
Look pal - if I just stoically accepted all the things in this world that piss me off, I'd be one miserable SOB.
I think it's unbelievable how you give into the hands of fate Some things are worth fighting for some feelings never die I'm not askin' for another chance I just wanna know why There's no easy way out there's no shortcut home There's no easy way out
Look, I get mad at all this shit too, but I also know when to stop beating my head against the wall and giving myself a headache. Right now all the calling for Porter to be fired stuff is just sound and fury. Now, I'm not saying don't call the man out for bad tactics, subs, shit media comments. I'm just saying, know we're stuck with him so screeching about how it's time to show him the door is moot.
I would argue that calling for Porter's sacking isn't just my right, it's literally my duty as a fan, and by doing so I'm holding up my end of an unspoken social contract between a sports team and its fans.
I couldn't agree with this more. It's one of the reasons I like pro sports more than college. I directly pay the players' and coach's salaries. It is my duty to hold them accountable for their job performance. If not us, who? Certainly not MLS soccer soccer football dot com, not Jacob Myers and the Dispatch. Has any MLS coach ever had a 5 year contact before this one? It seemed insane from the start. The fact that it would cost the owners 3 years of a nice DP salary to cut bait with this guy makes me sad. As a small market team we can't afford to make this type of mistake.
