Received several "We want Porter out" texts from friends in the Nordecke. Thought I heard a few chants saying the same, but it was hard to tell. Red Bulls playing three starters. Not even attempting to get the win. Columbus Crew buoyed by hope, a decent crowd, all the emotion in the world, and they lay a complete egg. An auspicious beginning for the 5 million dollar man.
I don't think you should make the assumption that COACH BOT 9000 came with instructions on how to break down an opponents B Team....especially with a group of players that has been together 2-4 years. What a horrible debut.
This thread is a car wreck thread: I know it's a disaster, I know it's ridiculous, I know it's over-the-top, and yet I'm having trouble staying away for fear of missing out on something entertaining. I hate the internet.
hang, do you hear these people now? Are they in the room with you? Can anyone else see them? Not the best start but a very usual first game of the MLS season. Passes off a few feet here or there. Runs a bit too early or too late. The only things I am sure of, Santos had a terrible game even by Santos standards and Ted Unkel is maddeningly inconsistent. I give Porter a complete pass until April 8th.
There are worse results than tying NYRB-B in a season opener. Real lost 4-1. At home. Against Ajax. Dortmund tied last place Nurnberg 0-0 three match days ago, then lost to 15th Augsburg 2-1 this weekend. Their big lead over Bayern is now a +2 GD lead. Liverpool lost in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup against the Wolves. And many others....
My Gladbach, after being in second place much of the season, have lost the last three games at home 3-0, 3-0, and 5-1 (with a 1-1 draw in the middle). Before that, we'd only given up 18 goals in 20 games and had not lost or drawn at home all season and a fair bit of the previous one. So yeah, it could be worse.
We looked very poor. I've stated my piece in the game thread. I feel horrible for Porter, since our players are mostly crap. I feel like most people here have come to that consensus as well. So no need to pile on the depression. I live to love, after all. That said, the FCC performance in Atlanta was miles more impressive than either performance Porter's Crew has put forth....
That’s a pretty reasonable take. Porter is going to ride this season out so not much more to say on him at this point. Cinncy got a point on the road. It’s not nothing but certainly not enough to mean much.
You’ll have to excuse Timon. He’s a bit lost after losing his ability to play contrarian in the Save The Crew thread. Now he just pops in like an old grandpa and replies to posts with words that have little or no reference to the post above.
You'll have to excuse me. I've been in Florida all weekend. I'm still there, but not for vacation anymore. Also: terribly sorry to not treat your tremendous whine thread with the respect you thinks it somehow deserves.
