I'm not counting any chickens yet. We'll see what happens (I'm not saying it's going to be all puppy dogs and rainbows).
Of course, I'm still wading through the Crew to Austin thread... getting further and further depressed and more and more angry as time goes on
And for him, the lure to be on that USMNT bench could grow more enticing. Nothing left to see for him in Columbus. Upward and onward I reckon.
With precourt moving the team, I say 100% keep 3G. Hell, bring back Andrulis. Whatever the worst situation is for the product, I’m all for it.
No kidding. We were never Toast in @Knave 's MLSN&A thread, but we were damn close. We were at something like 1.4PPG through 24 games and have gone on a 2.3PPG run at 6-0-3 over our last 9. 3 or 4 game runs happen pretty often, but one of the reasons the Toast concept works so well is that rarely is a 1.4PPG team through 20+ games able to become a 2.3PPG team for a longer stretch than a few games. But, here we are.
Not sure I fully get the ire being hurled at anyone other than Precourt. These are people with families, bills working in an industry where loyalty is fairly thin on the ground. I only expect neutral comments from current staff at best.
I feel badly for almost anyone not named Precourt because of the impacts on them too. This includes marketing partners (can't imagine that Mapfre and Acura are really happy right now), staff, and coaches down to the youth levels.
LOL. The 7th place team in the conference has what, a 1.25 ppg? I mean forget Gregg's completely tone deaf comments after the story broke Monday. Build the guy a statue for finishing ahead of the New England Revolution who fired their coach weeks ago. Jesus.
Gregg is he most tone deaf guy I’ve ever heard. He shows no emotion ever. I really wonder if he has known about this for a long time. Almost to the point of not warming up to the locals. Don’t get too close Because I’m outta here anyways... This just looks bad on the players. You think they’ll get high fives at Kroger’s next year? If I were them I’d be demanding a trade this off season. Can’t win here and they’re looking at playing on a hot plate in Austin. Not a good future for them.
All but the Ohio-based players and perhaps Justin and some of the long-tenure guys won't care that much. It's just a job. And in soccer, that's very mobile. Sure, they'll have some fond memories I'd think. Next year would be tough to be a lame duck. And many will not even make it to Austin. Careers with one team in MLS do not last that long for most players (true of most sports these days).
Maybe Manneh sticks around now, since in 2019 he'll get to go back to his adopted home-state of Texas and play in the city where he first played professionally before coming to MLS, you guessed it... Austin. Makes you wonder about the Manneh-Tchani trade now a little bit, doesn't it?
Yeah, I know....but you were talking about playoff qualification. Nothing more or less. Even I predicted we would make the playoffs. Look, Precourt is an asshole but there is no need to paint what happened this season thus far as Berhalter as some bulwark against the storm, freedom fighter, or miracle worker. And let's recall his interview on Tuesday, he's excited about the potential move because it shows Precourt's ambition. To take issue with my concerns about Berhalter is one thing. To revise or embellish history to make it seem as though Berhalter was fighting against a unprecedented amount of obstacles that make mere payoff qualification amazing is just weird.
If we win Sunday, and results break so that we finish in the top three of the league, will you shut the f***up for once?
The post you quoted was in reply to a post that stated that it was amazing that we made the playoffs at all. Try looking at comments within context every once in a while, chief, instead of being pseudo tough guy keyboard commando.
