Which countries are the most surprising?
I know that. Was just joking. Although I do wonder why they have their place in something that should be for nations only.
FIFA is not an "organisation of nations" but one of football associations nations are way overrated anyway
Well, the most obvious underestimation is Netherlands being 15th. I'd guess Portugal being 3rd is the biggest overestimation, though they are of course a good team. But 3rd? No. And is Argentina really only the 4th best team in SA? Nah.
There's a Sporcle quiz to name FIFA members that aren't countries at http://www.sporcle.com/games/Derrie/fifa_non and there are 23 which is 11% of FIFA. CONCACAF has the most with 10.
I would say the Cape Verde 43rd, Nigeria 44th, shows how far removed from reality the FIFA rankings are.
well it is the worst team t the dutch have their worst national team entering a world cup since 1974. it really can't be a top 10 team with the selection they have at the moment. too much average players, unproven at decent club level to be a top team. it wouldn't surprise me if they went out the first round this time. Euro 2012 already was a huge disaster for them (0/9 in the group stages). but probably i'll jinx them and they end up in the semi-finals lmao
To me, it's Spain, Germany, Brazil and then everyone else. If I were to round out the top five, I'd definitely put Argentina fourth and then fifth could be a number of teams.
