can't understand, how we lost three positions winning in the last 5 matches? Unfortunately, Uzbekistan lost its 3rd position in post-Soviet countries ranking to Belarus, we used to be after Russia and Ukraine(

Use fifa ranking tool to understand. It gives 99% correct answer. I have done it before with 100% accuracy.

Philippines, Australia, China soar up FIFA rankings
The Philippines, Australia and China were the big movers in the latest FIFA rankings which were released on Thursday, moving up 19, 17 and 15 places respectively. [IMG]

Thomas Dooley’s Azkals have moved up to 116th on the latest rankings with 300 points, following last month’s 3-2 victory over Korea DPR.

In fact, their latest ranking is the highest the Philippines have ever attained, improving on the 130th position they held in 2013.

The Azkals have improved steadily over the last decade, having been on the verge of dropping out of the top 200 in 2005.

In their most recent match, Australia thumped Tajikistan 7-0 before dispatching Jordan 5-1.

China, meanwhile, are up to 81st with 423 points, having beaten Qatar 2-0 and Maldives 4-0 at the end of last month.

It wasn’t all good news for the Asian contingent on the latest rankings, with Korea DPR (18), Turkmenistan (15), Palestine (14), Tajikistan (14), Myanmar (12), Brunei Darussalam (11) and Malaysia (eight) all dropping down several places.

Iran (42nd) remain the continent’s top-ranked team, closely followed by Australia (50th), Korea Republic (56th), Japan (57th) and Saudi Arabia (60th).

At the top of the rankings, Argentina have overtaken Belgium as the world’s best team, with Chile and Colombia – up two and four places respective – with World Champions Germany dropping down one place to fifth.

Like it or not, Kyrgyzstan is stronger than Iraq. They had a superior record (1 win & 1 tie) against Jordan who beat Australia. And they dominated Australia at home outshooting 21-11.

There is a difference between an in form team and a strong team overall.

Iraq competed well with the top teams in Asia in the 2015 Asian Cup and we will do it again now that the same coach is appointed.

The problem is that you got Australia and have to play without Ben Williams.

No. The biggest reasons of quarter final exit in AC 2015 were the coaching staff and players mainly the head coach.

Ben william was not the main reason of quarter-final exit. Plz close the discussion about that match.

Seriously, India 101st? Have they consciously tried to improve their FIFA ranking with easy opponents in friendlies, how is it even possible for them to rank so many places above Oman(114) and Turkmenistan (140) after losing them both home and away in WCQ (the most recent competitional matches calculated in this ranking) where they finished last in the group 4 points below Guam (that is now ranked 183).

The points system for fifa rankings is pathetic. If a nation selects to play in the right matches, at the right time, against the right opponents, or better yet, doesnt even play, they are able to get up in the rankings, as India have done.

India dead last in the wc qualifiers, only recently beat lowly Myanmar, Laos twice and a one off surprising win over Puerto Rico has given them 101 placing. Their true level will come in June when they face off Palestine, Lebanon and Kygrystan...
