Order is finally restored in Asian rankings. Iran is poised to jump to 33rd place on the December edition.

FIFA rankings along with qualification to the WC is considered to be big achievements for a country that has achieved so little. So just let them enjoy their time.

Our highest Fifa Ranking was 15 and that was in 2005.
We qualified to the WC three times before qualifying to the WC 2014. This was fourth time that we qualified to the WC.

So this should have been your comment

"FIFA rankings along with qualification to the WC is not considered to be big achievements for Iran NT."

Here is currently our place. God knows what would have been our place and strength compare to other Asian teams if Iran football federation's budget would not have been million times less than likes of Japan, Korea, and Australia.

    • Iran's Highest FIFA ranking: 15 (July 2005)
    • South Korea 's Highest FIFA ranking: 17 (December 1998)
South Korea, always below Iran in rankings, head-to-head etc etc, yet always in denial. :D

Koreans only understand the language of Iron Fist which is what Carlos gave them right there. He literally bitch-slapped them in their own backyard in front of the entire world. :)

The pecking order in Asia (based on World Cup performances)

King of Asia : Korea Republic (4th place/2002, Round of 16/2010)
    2nd : Korea DPR (Quarter-final/1966)
    3rd : Japan (Round of 16/2002, 2010)
    4th : Australia (Round of 16/2006)
    4th : Saudi Arabia (Round of 16/1994)

    Iran (Group Stage/1978, 1998 2006) :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

You are less successful than even 0-8ers.

yes iran won all there recent games and korea recently lost to russia. but there is an undeniable fact that the current korea squad has more quality then the iranian squad just compare it. iran should enjoy the ranking for now but u guys also have to admit that the korean squad is better. we did not have the chance to face iran with a full squad since the 2010 wc qualifers. in the 2011 asian cup we did not have Chu Young in his best form. but congrats on ur ranking. but also look at the bigger picture.

I dont care about the ranking.
But stop making excuses that you did not field your best squad. That is subject to personal opinion.

The Korean manager Choi knows better than you, unless you are a licensed football coach. He wanted to beat Iran more than anything else, and went out of his way to be a d.ick and said some unfprofessional things.
He wanted it badly, so obviously he would called up what he thought to be the best available players.

Had Iran beat you in 2010 WCQ, you would be here saying that you have not fielded your best squad since 2002 or something

I also tend to not put much worth on FIFA rankings, while not completely worthless, it's really not a 100% accurate measure. We would gain real status in international football only after we pass the group stages in the world cup and remain consistent in qualifying for the world cup.

Having said that, Koreans shouldn't believe they're heads and shoulders above Iran, it's delusional to think we're on completely different levels. While Korean football might have achieved slightly more in the international stage (I put less emphasis on 2002 since they had home advantage and some controversial ref assistance), overall our footballs aren't far apart and have never been. Japan on the other hand has really been playing at a much higher level than everyone else in AFC and should be recognized for their recent achievements.

why do you consistently respond? let Iranians enjoy it. no need to bring KNT into it.
i don't believe Iran is better but KOREA def. sucked more vs Iran in WCQ.

btw, the argument for FIFA ranking is important for WCQ seeding is kinda meaningless. like it or not, Iran will have to face Korea or Japan unless you guys are really worried about early rounds in Asia WCQ.

Just let them have it, recently they don't really have anything else to boast about other than beating Korea a few times.

You are talking like all Iranian fans said they are miles better than all other Asian national teams because of this ranking. As I said previously Japan is currently the best team in the continent regardless of ranking.

Iran spends millions times less on football compare to Japan, Korea, etc. Iran federation have hard time to spend money even for a mini camp. Million times less budget compare to Japan, Korea, etc.

Recently! We recently had WCQs + ACQs. We did not have any more tournaments.
